'Circles in the Sand' is a playful, tongue-in-cheek song that takes the listener on a journey through the ups and downs that coexist from day to day. How is that unadulterated joy and existential dread live in such proximity to one another? 'Circles' sits with these conflicting emotions, and calls on the listener to focus on what is tangible: What we can see, feel and touch. 'I will rest my head, draw circles in the sand, there's treasure hidden there, and secrets - do you swear, to keep?'

"Blue is a song about yearning for home. It attempts to immerse the listener in a specific moment in time - reflecting on love, loss and acute feelings of hopelessness. It also seeks to explore what home means for me, and what it is that I am truly yearning for - is it a place, a person, a house? This song is representative of my time living as an expat in Canada- where throughout, I have experienced deeply conflicting emotions about being separated from home. This is exacerbated further by the inevitable losses that come with the passing of time.
My goal as an artist, is to capture a moment or a feeling as purely and authentically as possible, with the hope that it will resonate and connect with others. 'Blue' invites the listener to pull up a chair and to just feel." Amy Blake

Give and Take is a song about wanting more than the life you are living. You can see clearly the life that you want, however to due to the responsibilities of life, and the various systems at play, you watch it slipping away.

The Body of Another was written as a response to Dolly Parton's Jolene.
 I wanted to take a nuanced look into what it might be like to be the other woman; for the character in the song to watch the destruction she is causing, while knowing that there's nothing she can do to stop it because she's so blindsided by love. 
In this interpretation, she is both apologising for, and justifying her actions. The electric guitar takes centre stage in this track, 
providing start contrast to intimate vocals.

Tread Lightly explores the beginnings of new love; the excitement, exhilaration, and most poignantly, the fear. This song in particular focuses on the courage of falling in love again after experiencing devastating heartache. This song begins tenderly and tentatively 'Tread Lightly, Oh Please. This feeling scares me'.  It progresses at the end of the song to a more upbeat rhythm, and melody, acknowledging that it is ok to be afraid, because vulnerability and courage are necessary, no matter how scary.

‘Honour You’, belongs to a particular moment in time, and that time is now. It is a time of collective grief, where we are grieving the loss of loved ones, an uncertain future and any sense of normality. I wrote this song on September 7th, the day my Granny died, knowing that I could not go home for her funeral.

You will hear the song exactly as I wrote it that evening, exactly how it fell onto the page. Just guitar, piano and my feelings. It’s raw, it’s vulnerable, and it is authentic. Vocals and guitar are ‘live off the floor’, and piano was added after by the lovely Shannon Scott. It was captured by the gorgeous Jayne Trimble at World Peach Records.
