My neighborhood...

Because it was such a spur of the moment creation, I just propped the mic up between my legs as I sat crossed legged on the bed in my dark cabin...so it sounds kinda far away.
I was looking at a moth circle around my bathroom as I peered from the bed. "Fly, into the light. You're gonna die. It's just your right..."

I basically improvised over a track created by Señora Timbre (aka Second Side of Mine) Most of what I laid down was recorded in one take.

on wind whispered waves
that travel from the sun

holding her hand
holding what's to come

through the light can see

Señora Timbre (<a href="http://soundcloud.com/secondside" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Second Side of Mine</a>) did the programming for this track. I asked if I could play around with it and added piano, vocals, and a tiny bit of ukulele.
I like to know what a song is about before I begin working with it. She said, "This track was the first track I created when I got pregnant this time. The beginning of the pregnancy reminded me of an oyster which is growing a pearl, and so this track was named Autolamelli..." This is how I came to create a song around it. I imagined what it would be like if you could remember what it was like to be born. It also made me think of what I would tell a small child about where babies come from. (it's magic:)

I usually come up with parts like this as I'm writing a song, then add it later underneath the melody or as an instrumental break.

If only I knew how to use a looper I could do this stuff live.

a musical journal of sorts. Snippets and ideas I record with my iphone and my macbook pro.

I'm a singer and a songwriter. Piano is my first instrument. 

I use Ableton Live and Reason. My live instruments include piano, ukulele and stringed harp.
