Growing up in the Pacific Northwest made me appreciate the rain so much for what it brings and what it washes away. I now live in California where rain is even more scarce and precious to our dry ecosystem.

Mizu is the Japanese word for water and is the title of my single that drops this Friday on October 28th. I started this song on a long road trip with nothing but my laptop and a pair of headphones. This song has turned it into a musical journey I am really excited to share. The song starts out with an ethereal soundscape of rain and thunder that evolves into a section of the song that I imagine as a storm that clears as the second drop comes in. This song captures, for me, a little bit of the essence of rainy days in the Pacific Northwest.

The rain is such a magical thing in so many ways. I love hiking and exploring outside in the rain or staying inside and cozying up. I love to get creative when the rains come, how my mood shifts into more inward expression.

Praying for a wet fall, especially here in CA.

This piece symbolizes the evolution of the contemporary spirit towards the enlightenment experience and its activation in the "real world" through its progression of textures...

Beginning in from the universal sound source of the Om, this piece moves from the mechanical and sensual essence of modern life and society through the ebb and flow of becoming more and more aware of both the intense love and suffering of this world (represented by the movement of the strings) into an infinite space within, full of darkness but pulsing with beams of photons bringing one beyond space and time to the eternal sound of Om...

...awakening into an intricate hyperspace of Satori, we travel through the nexus of the Void upon the wings of a flute to find the realization that there is no realization and that It is beyond all things for: all is and all is not...

Floating back through inner/outer space and reawakening into this realm of Samsara and cyclical existence, the lessons of the Infinite are at first forgotten but then remembered again, creating a complete Self that is represented through the harmonic alignment of the strings and the flute, respectively symbolizing fear and love, darkness and light, the human experience and the buddha, the finite and the infinite...

I consider this to be the heart of the La Ceremonia series. This music is Medicine from the Earth for her children. She loves us dearly but we need to make changes in our souls, changes in our perspective, changes in our lives and changes in our hearts. All of these songs are tuned to 444hz to align with and transform our DNA, the physical coding of our realities. Our physical, psychological and spiritual beings are all interrelated. Just as a change in our spiritual being can alter the DNA of our physical being, so can a change in our DNA alter our spiritual being. We are entering a new era, the way that we perceive and interact with our reality is changing. We have the opportunity to take humanity to a new heightened awareness. This all starts in ourselves. To make a change in the world we must make a change in ourselves. To heal the soul of the Earth we must heal the souls in ourselves. We are one with the Earth. We are one with the cosmos. I give thanks for the opportunity to play a part in this time here on Earth. I give thanks for the opportunity to connect through music. I give thanks for life.

The newest release is an extension of what you might have experienced as his artist’s style, accompanied by the long nordic night, that sets a whole lot of new emotions to the already known palette.

Gravitas Recordings is pleased to release Circulate Vol. 1, a global bass compilation curated by David Starfire and SOOHAN. This compilation boasts an impressive roster full of original tracks, remixes, and collaborations with eclectic artists such as Kaya Project, An-ten-nae, Desert Dwellers, Beats Antique, and CloZee, to name a few. Circulate was created in support of Beyond the Grade, a grassroots 501(c)3 not-for-profit Austin-based charity that provides after school music education for underserved children. 

Over the years, Austin musicians have donated their time to Beyond the Grade in teaching various programs, camps, and classes such as beats, live performance, drum kits, keyboard/piano, and guitars. Music is proven to positively increase people’s happiness, learning, and creativity; however, many schools are not able to fund music education. David Starfire and SOOHAN understand first-hand how beneficial it can be towards cognitive development and self-esteem in children, and they are excited to spread Beyond the Grade’s mission among the electronic music community through Circulate.

Another mission of Circulate was to advocate the global bass music community that is growing around the world. This compilation spotlights different sounds and features artists from around the United States, Finland, Ghana, Canada, Hungary, Angola, Poland, France, the UK, and more who contribute to create cutting-edge music that is a fusion of traditional cultural music mixed with modern beats, bass, and rhythms. There is a movement in music with different cultures coming together musically with dance music, as dance crosses all languages and is a language of its own to be understood universally. From celebrations to rituals, dance brings people together. With the internet, anyone can listen to music from another culture and fuse it with dance music to create a unique version to share with others. This global bass compilation was created with the understanding that people are interested in being educated about music from around the world and hearing sounds that are outside of the norm. Beyond the Grade was the perfect charity to partner with for this compilation, and 100% of net proceeds will be donated to assist in “keeping music alive in Austin schools.”
