Bismuth

This piece is some of my older catalogue, and is the first piece i created entirely in Logic Express (previously i used Reason for these pieces). it's sort of new age ambient prog. i actually play drumset on this. the flute melody and elec guitar melody actually came from a Mathematica ringtone i created and downloaded. it's a crossroads piece for me of sorts where the glitchiness and melodic material combine.

Crossings

Another one from the vault - 8 years old. first song using Logic and Reason together, Originally written in Reason then augmented with other parts in Logic. Still hadn't gotten the hang of strong drum tracking at this point.

Comeout

Another Reason-created piece from about 9 years ago. It's held up well enough that i'll take another crack and remix this one with a harder edge in Logic. The same Rhodes piano intro loops throughout and the bass note and chords define the operative root and tonality. I like the synth solo but it is a bit too proggy at the end to work as an IDM or ambient track.

Octagon (original mix)

This one is the second piece i finished in Logic and is much more unabashedly New Age ambient and melodic, and a lot less IDM or glitch oriented. Another one with me on drumset, playing an awesome Sonor kit (mostly snare). This one came together in a day, basically, and i spent another week polishing everything up. Timing is a little shaky in places but it's earnest and expressive. The fretless bass played on keyboard is derivative as hell of Windham Hill, but there it is.

Discovery

Another Reason created tune that reminds me of a closing credits for a film, or somebody walking off in the distance as the crane cam pans up and views the skyline of a city. Apart from the techno interjection over the dominant, i think it's a nice example of layering in action.

Solitude

This one is the title track off of my upcoming EP called Persistence on Bandcamp. It has a bit of a heroic demoscene meets DnB vibe. It might need just a slight bit of tweaking and mastering but this is pretty close to the final version. Nearly all the drum sounds and crazy cutup frying electric sound sources are from an awesome Youtube video where somebody hooked up a Buchla 200e modular synth to the Source Of Uncertainty and let 'er rip. I might remix this one to provide an even more modtracker sounding piece.

Persistence

Another one off the upcoming EP Persistence. Probably the most similar to the old new agey tracks. Not much to say on this one. A very good friend committed suicide while i was composing this, so i suppose it's dedicated to her in a way. 

Starways-workmix

Anodize is the electronic/ambient/etc alter ego of Scott R. Looney who spends most of his time making a lot of weird non commercial sounds. Nevertheless, his early influences of Vangelis and Klaus Schulze are merging with advanced IDM approaches ala Aphex Twin /Squarepusher/  Boards Of Canada to create an interesting synthetic voice.

Recently his track 'Bismuth' was included in the Analog industries compilation called Unsuspected Sounds. more tracks will be following.
