Ana Bee - Wk1 - The Reason

Bobby came home late last night
Lost all his money on poker and gin
Too drunk to use his key so he banged on the door
'Hey woman, best let me in" (3x)

Polly woke up from her peaceful dreams thinking "Oh please, not tonight"
She knew that loller' only all too well
She could tell he was LOOKING FOR A FIGHT (3x)

Well she may have been a fool once, but she thought
"Fool me twice, then shame on me"
So Polly had something waiting for him
30 paces from the old oak tree

Polly slipped out the back door, ran up the hill
Yelled "Catch me if you can"
At the sound of her voice Bobby turned in a rage
Then up the hill he ran

Polly ran 'cross the field as she could
then she leapt to save her soul
But Bobby, too slow, too dumb, too drunk
Well, he fell down in the hole (2x)

And she left his ass in the hole...

I've been keeping me to me
I've gotten really good at being really good company
So if you see me by myself it doesn't mean that I'm lonely

Celia, you must go to Paris
Tell me if there truly are dolphins in France
Send me a 2 penny postcard
And photos in letters with 3 penny stamps

The letters came once or twice weekly
Filled with all the details of all her fine days
And pictures of the Eiffel Tower
She said that she'd climb to the top, COME WHAT MAY

I wrote her that surely she'd fall
She said "Non, pas moi.  Not at all!"

"Qui sont les jeune filles en chapeaux?"
And she said that she didn't know

"But they walked and they talked and they laughed and they smiled and I watched as they ate their ice cream.  And when one of the girls dropped her cone en la rue....

...she flipped her hair and exclaimed ""C'est la vie!""
