Okay... So let me just give you a little intro to this one. 🥰

First of all hi, I'm Guns. I ditched my architecture/design career during the pandemic and started to learn how to DJ and produce music in front of a live audience on Twitch. And after three years streaming online, and releasing 5 tracks independently I had the honour of landing my first ever gig. And guess what... I was the headliner!!!! AND it was abroad! wtf?! 🤯🤯🤯

Hello raver,

I started building this mix from scratch probably ten times. I kept swapping out tracks and changing the vibe, and somewhere along the way I lost count of how many rekordbox updates came out in between. I can’t even tell you how many times I nearly binned the whole thing over one failed transition.

In the end, it landed at around 40 tracks, covering a load of genres I’ve been into lately: various breaks, breakbeat, garage, dubstep, bass, grime, techno, lo-fi house, electronica, breakbeat hardcore, and more. The BPM moves from 120 up to 142. I thought about going all the way to 174, but after weeks, maybe even months of tweaking, I realised I don’t quite have the patience for a 3 hour journey just yet.

One of the hardest parts about recording a mix, or even producing a single track, is that by the time it’s “done,” you’ve heard it so many times you barely know what it feels like anymore. I’ve walked through parks listening back, picking apart transitions, questioning track choices, mentally rewriting sections. At some point you learn to accept that things won’t sound exactly how you planned, but that’s fine.

This mix is a bit of everything: fun, a bit weird in places, full of tracks I genuinely love. It’s good for a walk, a run, driving, working out, waiting for the bus, cleaning room, staring at your ceiling at 4am wondering about life, or for the afters, of course.
