Fighting Words With Words

200 hours later...  Decided I gotta call this track done until I can get some fancy studio monitors lol.  

Starting at about 2 mins in it goes instrumental for a bit, showing my EDM roots but I had never tried for a club type dance-able vibe in anything before and I gotta say it was a lot of fun and plan on doing more.  Most of the rhythmic sounds are samples I sliced from Ninja's syllables in the acapella, and obviously the amen break.  Worked really hard to get the high end balanced out across multiple sound systems and I wish it were louder on some systems, but I felt it was too overpowering on low end systems so I compressed it quite a bit.  I lack a system with high end subs,  so any weird dissonant harmonics in the bass range are unintentional if they exist so please let me know if I need to cut any effective bass ranges (although I think I have all the envelopes and compression balanced out). Hopefully no one is upset that I threw the original Mims chorus in there, I just really liked the way it fit, and his voice contrasted well with both Ninja and Yolandi.  I can remove his chorus if there is a copyright issue or something.  If any producers have suggestions on what I could do to improve my sound, I am all ears!  I really wanted this track to have a genre defying vibe to it, it has too much funk to be hindered by our preconceived constructs.  If you like my music, please share!  Zef empire, Boh!

A Multi-Genre producer and DJ, Embolic has been kicking wax around the midwest since 2001 and more recently has expanded his act into a Live PA, incorporating drum machines and samplers into his vinyl set. Back in 2000, he first cut his teeth in the scene as an MC for dozens of underground warehouse parties and on several local DnB demo tapes. After his time working and studying closely with so many talented DJ's, he decided to make his move behind the decks in 2001 and hasn't looked back. He has performed in several cities around the midwest and has opened for and tag-teamed with some of the hottest Junglists in the area over the years. His trademark sound is found when he's mixing deep Drum n Bass grooves with aggressive Jungle chatter, producing calculated bass-heavy grooves with a tempered rage occasionally rising to the surface and smashing dancefloors to pieces with Amens.
