In search of original and extravagant motion pictures for rich people, this time Mr. Ballinger has made a contract to find a very special film: "Le Fin Absolute De Mond" (the absolute end of the world). The problem is that there is only one copy of this tape, whose whereabouts is a mystery, but even more mysterious is the particular effect it produces on those who watch it.

What happens when two beatmakers from opposite ends of Te Ika A Māui, armed with different creative processes, decide to make some tunes together? The ‘Joint Effort EP’ is a 3 track showcasing of an exciting collaboration between AndWahn (Tāmaki Makaurau), and Synthetic Children (Te Papaioea), finding its strength in the culmination of differing skillsets and workflows, and demonstrates a reciprocated admiration of craft. From DAW to drum-machine and back again, this is a conversation via warping basslines. Grooves switch up with dynamic genre fluidity, proudly showing the shared inspiration taken from various bass genres such as dubstep, grime, and jungle. Available exclusively on bandcamp, soundcloud, and nina protocol, this is one for the low-end lovers.


Synthetic Children is the solo moniker of Te Papaioea based artist Celina Goacher (either/eyether, Khaki Department, bitch whistle). Via hardware synths and drum machines she endeavors to create cathartic dancefloor experiences, navigating between murky, dissociative atmospheres with autotuned vulnerabilities, and gender-euphoric climaxes atop weighty grooves. Her recent output spans experiments with guitar textures, blast beats and emo on 2024’s ‘like a peeled orange sinks in water’, whilst the bubbling beats and hyperpop vocals of this year’s ‘Smooch EP’ showcase “Palmy’s premier snack pack herself” (Diesel Jenny) taking her love for dance music to its transgender-runglist niche. Big Fresh Collective also host Synny C’s blistering 160bpm ‘angel showed her’ on Footmahi ‘25. Alongside Diesel Jenny on the recent ‘Backroom Smooches Tour’ across Aotearoa, the two hit off some small-town virality in a Tūrangi community facebook group after taking their hardware electronic sets to the iconic shopfront of Sanjay’s Selections dairy, aka the most bass boosted soundsystem in the Waikato, in collaboration with Bankrupt Records, documented here - youtu.be/0e4hgnN1BLM?si=iWESYlSrrpFXC9Yu

Joint Effort

Our first ever premiere introduces the 129th imprint on Montreal-based label, Archipel. This album from Italian Rico Casazza hosts 8 intriguing tracks, 4 of which are available only for those who invest in the wax!

Our featured track is one of those vinyl bonuses, named as the entire album is...'Yaman'. Its hypnotic and music box styled melody, is the first stand out feature. As the electro-led beat and energetic claps develop, so does its wonderful 303 bassline. The track epitomises Rico's style in its perfect balance between his melancholic songwriting and his desire to make people move.

After ten years of producing electronic music, Rico Casazza has created a successful identity for himself and his moody, yet melancholic style of making music. Casazza has released on labels such as Soma, Archipel, Plastic City and our very own platform Loose Lips, which has helped him establish himself amongst the ranks of diverse producers in London. This is no easy task due to the sheer volume of quality artists hailing from this great city. Whether it is Ambient, House, Electro or IDM that you are looking for, Casazza will have his own tripped-out and crunchy take on it. His highly effective, sample-based way of producing reinforces these stylistic qualities. 

Rico Casazza has had a very successful career so far with over fifteen releases under his belt and even with this impressive figure behind him, he shows no signs of slowing down.  Showing the depths of his musical knowledge, he's turned his hand to teaching others how to use Ableton live and all he knows about the DAW. As well as teaching, he also spends time working on his hybrid live set that gives an insight into his love for analogue synthesisers. Rico’s live performance has taken him around Europe and South America, adding to both the maturity and vast array of influences behind his productions.

Rico Casazza’s latest offering is eight tracks in the form of his second LP. We have the privilege of premiering ‘Yaman’, which demonstrates his no-holds-barred approach to writing. As a teacher, producer, live performer and an incredible selector behind the decks, Casazza has cultivated a varied and detailed range of skills. We here at Loose Lips have followed his musical journey thus far with great curiosity, and can’t wait to see the ways in which he will surprise us in the future.

Cold weather have you feeling dry and itchy? We have just the fix here at Allergy Season: 3 tracks from Physical Therapy and Ambivalent aka PTA. After pushing their fast and funky techno sound on labels like The Corner and Wolfskuil, the duo finally make their way home to Allergy Season. On "INK" the pair coat crashing breaks with dubbbbbbed out synths (and have graciously included a "Beatapella" mix for professional Disc Jockeys.) "Cheap Soda" can be best described as "cowbell-driven techno," organic drums clattering beneath warehouse sized synth stabs. Applied liberally these tracks are certain to leave the dancefloor feeling fresh and friction-free!
