"The piece is in three movements, fast, slow, fast. In the two outer fast movements the marimbas set the harmonic background which remains rather static compared to recent pieces of mine like Double Sextet (2007). The marimbas interlock in canon, also a procedure I have used in many other works. The vibes present the melodic material first solo and then in canon. However, in the central slow movement the texture changes into a thinner more transparent one with very spare use of notes, particularly in the marimbas. I was originally concerned this movement might just be ‘too thin’, but I think it ends up being the most striking, and certainly the least expected, of the piece.

Tresor Records is proud to present club resident Claudia Anderson’s new work “Synthesis”, as the first EP to be charted into its fabled catalog in 2019.

Claudia Anderson lives in Vienna where she gained experience at local raves and underground clubs, before becoming a Tresor resident in 2017.

In 2012, Anderson joined Singular, the Paris label headed by Tresor resident and recording artist Marcelus. “Hysteria” was celebrated as one of the most subtly produced records that year. Three years later, she followed with on Singular with “Liquid Forms”, pushing the definition of the deep forms of Techno which have become integrant part of her signature.

Since then, Tresor has worked closely with Claudia Anderson to develop her first treads on the label. The label’s 2017 “Dreamy Harbor” compilation featured Anderson’s track “Phase” next to luminaries such as Jon Hassell, Moritz von Oswald or Donato Dozzy, revealing an ever more hypnotic side of her work.

In a new step, and through the five tracks that build “Synthesis”, Claudia Anderson shows a sense of aplomb, that stands in balance with her natural and subtle sense of restraint.

Tresor.307 releases on 180g. 12" vinyl and digital on February 22nd, 2019.

Smoke and Guns by Alex Hass & Bill Laswell

The collaboration between musician/artist Alex Haas and bassist/producer Bill Laswell is an homage to the organized chaos and flux of their changing city. NYC has been their creative muse since the late 70’s when they met, working their way up in the music business and recording in studios such as Media Sound and Power Station. Their first session together, with Alex as assistant engineer and Bill producing, was for Bootsie Collins’ deep pocket dub funk - a precursor to the duos mutual styles and musical symbiosis.


Over the years, the two producers went on to work with a bucket list of whose who, including David Bowie, PIL, The Ramones, Prince, Brian Eno and MotorHead, assisting on Grammy winning sessions for U2’s “All That You Can Leave Behind” and Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven.” While they worked diligently on crafting superb work for marquee acts, they also made time to hone in on their own serious yet approachable hybrid of Ambient Dub, World, Jazz and 90’s Trip Hop. “Nostalgia is in fashion at the moment, with a definite resurgence of interest in the 90’s,” Haas asserts. “I never stopped liking that era.”


Smoke and Glass is their sophomore release, following up 2018’s Nowstalgia. The majority of the new album was recorded at Treehouse Studios in Paris as well as all around NYC and in restaurants in Morocco and living rooms and kitchens in South East Asia. The recordings pull from a variety of musical influences, from Sly and Robbie to Miles Davis. But the dominating style is clearly the innovative British Trip Hop pioneered by bands like Massive Attack, who melded their influences into a distinctly urban vibe.
