Over all these years, going through the motions in busy streets, courts and ballrooms, marching along with the parade, one will see an endless gallery of facades, masks, faux costumes, and contrived personas. Only a sensitive hand can tear down this adhered wallpaper of imitation. Standing under this gleaming sunrise is not an act of defiance, anger, or detachment; it is invitation, albeit a futile one, to see what lies beneath.

Copenhagen-based visual and musical artist øjeRum presents 'Lav Sol', an album of symbolistic landscapes seen through intuition. In his music, Paw Grabowski effortlessly combines traditional, classical themes and motives into contemporary poetic forms. The three long-take recordings of Lav Sol inspire to look for the truth under the surface.

If you have been following me this year, you may recognize some of these songs  from earlier mixes posted here under different song titles. I renamed some of them to fit the synth soldering theme, so each track is named after a common component or chip that goes into the making  of a typical analog synthesizer module.

Some cinematic sounds made with a Serge NTO for Eurorack driven by logic and a Microbrute (CV / GATE out). NTO run through a Serge VCFQ into a Random*Source Stereo Mixer. Slopes courtesy of Serge DSG mk2. Recorded with a Metric Lio 8. Cut and layered in logic. And yes, reverb was added ;-)

Soundcloud compression seems to have quite a negative impact here, download 24 bit/96 kHz files to get the full sound.

Disquiet Junto Project 0323: Music for Meditation
Record a piece of music suited to meditation.

Step 1: Consider music appropriate for meditation. Think of the sounds, the tones, the forms that might suit such a thing.

Step 2: Record a short piece of music for meditation. Make your track a set number of minutes (that is, a length divisible by 60 seconds), preferably between 7 minutes and 20 minutes. Whatever length you choose, insert a bell/chime sound precisely one minute after the track begins and precisely one minute before the track comes to an end.

All sounds are from the Arturia Mello-V factory patches I contributed to the V-Collection 7 release.

Tangerine Dream used the Mellotron on their album Rubycon to great effect, fusing its natural recorded instruments with a throbbing Moog bass sequence. The result was stunning, and so it is very exciting to be able to play the same Mellotron tapes that TD played.
