Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Ryan James Ford

During the 1990’s while growing up in western Canada, Ryan James Ford was introduced to electronic music through the local rave and club scene. He began to discover, study, and collect the music he heard at these parties which consisted of a mix of Jungle, UK hardcore, Techno,House, IDM, and ambient.
Fast forward many years later to Berlin, where Ryan and his productions found a solid home on the legendary Clone records from Rotterdam and has other production’s on Anetha’s Mama Told Ya, Ida’s SÄVY, Marcel Dettmann’s MDR, Answer Code Request’s ACR, Dream Ticket, and his own label SHUT. PLUR is the new record label from Ryan James Ford. The inaugural release 'Ripping EP' begins a new path of club focused tracks from himself and other like-minded contemporaries. PLUR will act as a tool to discover new energy on modern dance floors.

Ryan’s sets and productions are rich with inspiration from his time spent living in Calgary where he had interests not only in electronic music but also in hip hop, post rock, reggae, jazz, experimental, and even some interest in metal. He began experimenting with production in the early 2000’s but it wasn’t until 2013, with a move to Berlin, that he started investigating his musical capabilities seriously.
Even though two decades have passed since Ryan’s introduction to electronic music, his love for early Warp, Metalheads, Metroplex, Novamute, Skam, Downwards, etc. can still be heard resoundingly clear in the strength and versatility of his productions and sets. The future will see Ford continue to play out and release on labels that share his like-minded affiliation and roots in the electronic music community.

BADradio #42 | Yamila | Groovy Techno Mix

Yamila, Argentinian born, since her childhood grew up exploring different musical styles, ranging from South American tribal rhythms and percussions to progressive rock synths, and the basslines and dreamy sounds from alternative and electronic music. 
Singing in a choir for over a decade, she became passionate about singing
and choral vocals, which have now become a key part of her sets. 
Her foreign language studies lead her to constantly achieve a perfect balance between words and music, since each idiom has a distinctive sound and meaning that enrich the structure of Yamila's sets by finding their proper voice in the flow designed for the dancefloor. 
In 2013 she moved to Berlin for a few years and there she discovered and deepened her love for the clubbing culture, experiencing the emotional and social power of techno music. Back in Italy she gets involved in the organization of various electronic music events and approaches the study of mixing, starting to play for small venues in and around Milan. 
In September 2021 she became DJ Resident of the Closer party in Milan based at Masada and Amelia, where she had the opportunity to play with great artists of the current international techno scene and to express herself freely and continue to explore her own distinctive and emotional

It was an honour to invite London born, Leeds-based, Kessie to our radio show after a serious 12 months which has seen her booked at Fold, Berghain, and many more of Europe’s most prestigious clubs and festivals.

As a proud parent and resident of NARR Radio and monthly queer night Love Muscle, Kessie’s techno tends towards the looping and the cerebral: a marriage of the hypnotic and the driving very few can effectively deliver. 

Being hard of hearing, Kessie’s relationship with audio is an especially physical, vibrational one, and her selections reflects this. Blistering kicks and sonic bleeps are integral building blocks, as are the intricate, sleazy mixes equally audible when she does bend the tempo and showcases her ear for bass, jungle, EBM, post punk, grunge, ambient.

My recording from the last incredible Grau Series in Bike Jesus, which I played just before legendary VIL. 

I can't even describe how happy I am about that night's performance. It is that moment when everything clicks, and you become one with the music losing the notion of time. Especially in the second hour, I experienced pure electrifying flow like never before.

My role was to bridge the warmup with peak time, starting on a slower note and bringing it right to 140 bpm. I was delighted to play some slower pre-2020 releases, that I love, which normally would not fit my uptempo style. The second hour contains a few gems of the golden 90s techno era that are just pure fire.

Originally from New York, Mos began his career in Italy with "Resistance is Techno". Since then, he has been frequently playing shows in Germany and across the USA. Mos has only been on the scene for a handful of years but is already showing a well-developed voice and a focused vision. Mos's recent debut at Basement NYC marks the start of a promising career phase. Across solo sets and frequent collaborations with Annie Lew, Mos dials in a tempestuous sound that would fit as well on the festival stage as it would in a small, dark club.
