Rhythm of the Night

Intec is known to many a Techno fan as a scene leading label set up by the iconic Carl Cox who has been at the forefront of DJ culture since the early 90’s.

Boasting a roster of artists including the label boss himself plus Nicole Moudaber, Jon Rundell, Marco Bailey, Carlo Lio, Cristian Varela and Dosem amongst many others of a similar calibre.

The new Intec release welcomes back Fabio Neural who along with seven previous releases on Intec, many will also recognise Fabio from imprints such as SCI+TEC, Intacto, KD Music, Serkal and Adam Beyer’s label Truesoul.

Fabio now travels the globe regularly DJ’ing on the same line up scene leaders like Richie Hawtin, Chris Liebing and Sven Väth.

An exciting talent yet to peak, this four track solo EP is a fine example of why Italian born Fabio has earned international respect and a fan base that spans continents.

“Bonzai” opens the release with looped pads that are packed with tension and sound almost like a warning siren, whilst muffled vocals create a sense of curiosity and menacing bass stabs add to the tracks overall intensity. Relenting only for the euphoria of the main breakdown, this dancefloor focused Techno track is both dark and furious.

Second on the release is “Inside Me” that fuses the rising tones of a soulful vocal with heavy percussion and a grinding bass line. Its rolling groove brought to life with claps and fast flowing hi-hats can only be described as peak time Techno at its best.

Track three titled “Seligman” is led by a pulsating lead synth that morphs into twisted acid with a hypnotic groove. Snares add to the tracks powerful forward momentum and textured FX create a sense of wide open space, which gives the track a vast and epic sound.

Finishing the EP is “Sick Boy” which takes its name from the hair-raising vocal which states “I’m going to tear your soul apart”. Sick and twisted, the track’s sinister lead synth adds to its chilling vibe and haunting atmosphere, but like any thrill seeker knows… it’s the compelling suspense and threat of impending doom that speaks the most excitement!

Manchester based Transcode has made some waves in the scene with his quality output on labels like Stil vor Talent. Filth on Acid is very happy to welcome this unique artist to the label, with three great originals on his Afterlife EP. Next to that, Whyt Noyz from Richie Hawtin’s Minus stable delivers an outstanding remix.

Afterlife starts off with a dreamy, subtle atmosphere, and some fantastic programmed synths and arpeggios. These elements are contrasted when the beat comes in; powerful and straightforward. The little melodic percussive elements work in perfect harmony with the melodies and keep on driving the track. The long breakdown in the middle of the track is mind blowing and a real crowd pleaser. A level work by Transcode.

Whyt Noyz manages to squeeze the synth lines of the original into a remarkably tight groove. Razor sharp hi-hats and a solid kick and bass drive the track on through airy and trippy effects. Slowly the arpeggio unfolds from the groove and leads us into the breakdown, where feeling of the original track perfectly complements the hypnotic vibe of Whyt Noyz grooves.

The third track of the EP, Vesta, illustrates Transcode’s ability to write very strong and beautiful melodies, with almost a relaxed feeling, without slowing the track as a whole down to much. There’s still plenty of energy here, and as Vesta develops, the energy level increases in a subtle way too.

Night Vision closes of the EP in style, introducing acidy elements and colossal sound design that stimulates the imagination of the listener. A heavy bass drum and a steady, punishing drum section combined with an eerie, dangerous atmosphere create a tasty atmosphere.

Maksim Dark is conquering the techno world rapidly. At Jannowitz Records we have already been lucky enough to win him over for two remixes in the past and - as you should remember - the first Jannowitz release of 2018. Maksim co-produced “Octopussy” with Jannowitz heads BOHO which was a huge success. Previously Maksim had worked for Sci-Tec, Octopus and Senso. But now he is already back! “Radium War” is his first solo EP in Cologne. If you have been following his releases you will not be surprised by the flair that “Radium War” , the name giving track, and “Industrial Strength” convey: Dark, evil, slowly pushing forward with a pounding and menacing bass, tight percussions and his signature male vocals. The shifting frequencies in the synth-melody of both tracks round them off and make them two of Maksim's most intense and interesting tracks yet, with “Industrial Strength” being slightly more floor sweeping and “Radium War” being the groovier one. 
Our remixers Kaiser Souzai, whose name you have already read on three of the Jannowitz releases over the last years, took “Industrial Strength” and transformed it into something different but with a similar drive and brutality. Whilst listening to it with it's slow but powerful build-up you will definitely know where it comes from but recognise that they made it their own. And that is what we expect from a remix, right?
The GNTN remix is a true Jannowitz Records track. GNTN is the duo from Germany's Ruhr Area that is becoming famous as fast as they deserve, getting supported by stars like Oliver Koletzki and Reinier Zonneveld. They got the opportunity to release on both Koletzki's (Stil vor Talents) and Zonneveld's (Filth on Acid) labels. For Maksim Dark they remixed “Radium War”. With its progressive touch it kept the dark vocals and some of the most ear catching elements of the original tore them apart from one another and built them back with new adonns and surprises. The biggest one being the mind blowing break towards the end that will make you yearn for more. And, well, regarding these killer artists for the 46th release on JAW, we can say: There will be more.
