The Second Renaissance

Carol d'Souza, whose real name is Ana Carolina and who hails from the city of Porto, started taking her first steps as a DJ from a very young age. However, it was in 2012 that she began to make her mark in the electronic music scene. With a unique sound that ranges from electrifying Techno to the groove of Hard-Techno, she has been able to establish her position in the electronic music industry. Portugal, Spain, France, and Slovenia are some of the countries where Carol has already left her mark, sharing the DJ booth with some of the world's greatest DJing legends.

Rebekah  – Beginnings EP - Decoy017
The long awaited first EP on Decoy Records from Rebekah has landed. Beginnings is inspired by Birmingham and those formative years of her love affair with the city and the special sound that comes from there. Central Hall is a quirky techno banger, cutting through with saw toothed military precision and heavy beats, capturing Rebekah’s well-known energy. The remix for this is supplied by Ansome (Mord, Perc Trax), who drops the tempo slightly and pays more attention to the groove with his stripped back interpretation. Stetchford Rising see’s Rebekah working with a sequenced analogue top line which pulsates, filters, rises and drops throughout the piece. Closing the EP, Rebekah throws in a curve ball to remove the clichés of her harder sounds with Last Time I Died, a break beat work out, huge synth melody and melancholic pads, laying to rest somewhere in the ether.

@soma label heads Slam are back on home turf with another high-pressure release, the "Sense Of Purpose" EP. The pairing of Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle hit hard once again with 3 expertly crafted tracks that give a nod to the roots of the tougher side of Techno.

Opening track "Capture" harks to the unrelenting nature of early 2000s Techno. A sturdy blend of hammering percussive elements, backed by rebellious vocals make for a typically high octane track Slam. "False" maintains the pressure but has a more warped and hypnotic hook that adds even darker overtones. "Episode" closes out the EP and has a trademarked Slam groove element whilst still remaining rough and ready as added dubbed out atmospherics and pads play to the tracks deeper momentum.
