Klaudia Gawlas readies the fierce ‘Amor’ for Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD imprint this July.
Following releases on Marco Faraone’s UNCAGE, Coyu’s Suara, and Kaiserdisco’s KD RAW, Poland’s Klaudia Gawlas prepares her first release for Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD, a monstrous techno doubleheader built for big dancefloor moments.
Mammoth kicks take charge on lead track ‘Amor’, with breathless vocals darting between evolving sections of subdued synthesis, making for a clinical club weapon. On the flip, the sweeping synths of ‘Cupidus’ drift below sizzling drums and warehouse-filling stabs as an unmistakable 4/4 pattern storms throughout.

Harvey McKay steps up for his first EP on Second State with 3 tracks of high rolling techno in ‘Oberon EP’. 

Glasgow’s Harvey McKay adds Second State to his already brimming back catalog with ‘Midnight’ EP, featuring 3 driving and grooving cuts. A hard-hitter in Scotland’s techno scene, Harvey regularly appears at international hotspots including Space Ibiza, Awakenings and fabric, to name a few. 

The opening track ‘Midnight’ is high-spirited yet dark and energetic, creating a more stripped back style of McKay production. A booming reverberating kick dances with scattered hi-hats and a low slung bouncing synth to create a deep & dusky atmosphere. Ascending keys keep the tension tight and high along with solitary stabs that whine and wring out over the main groove. 

‘Oberon’ begins with a dappled kick and solitary hi-hat layered upon minimal pads which are soon buried by a hypnotic, marching churn and percussive wails. These elements are gradually bound together to create the base of the track, with intermittent breakdowns that allow the pads and wails to break through and add depth. As the track develops, the major notes intensify and are brought to the forefront with a cyclic sample that's teased out, but never allowed to fully burst through the chaos. 

McKay rounds up with a relentless piece of techno in ‘Elves Playground’. A revolving metallic texture twirls over the booming kick to create a playful element in this cut before a deep and brooding drone takes control. As the devilish track progresses, the buzzing drone is toned down and injected back with ferocious vigor each time. A driving and textured production with clever minimal rave elements that are guaranteed to get you moving.

The new release on Markantonio’s label AnalyticTrail is a three track techno EP and a collaboration between the label boss himself and Atroxx.
Markantonio is a leading figure in the Italian music scene and along with releases on his own labels, his back catalogue also includes the likes of Sleaze (UK), Drumcode, Harthouse and Brood Audio.
Based in Naples he started his DJ career at just 15 years old and quickly rose to fame in his local city that then became a spring board to a global stage. Following this DJ success, his early productions quickly became popular with taste makers like Paco Osuna, plus The Advent, and from there his fanbase continued to grow.
Now a veteran of the techno genre with nearly two decades of music behind him, this EP is a showcase example of why Markantonio has maintained his cutting edge status.
Working in collaboration with Markantonio is Canadian artist Atroxx, who himself is no stranger to techno with previous Unity Records, Phobiq and AnalyticTrail.
Track one “Octave Shift” uses break beat rhythms and twisted vocals to add eeriness to its intensity. With building snare rolls and industrial percussion, it has a floor shaking groove and powerful punch.
Sticking with the dancefloor focus, “Give Me” is second on the EP with a dark atmosphere lead by a thundering kick drum and claps that are full of impact. With haunting vocals adding to the tension, it’s the arpeggiating lead synth that provides the driving force.
Finishing the superb release is “The One” that has menacing synth stabs layered over heavy percussion. Stripped back and straight to the point, this chunky track takes no prisoners and is a great way to bring things to a close.
