I'm very excited to finally share with you my final project I wrote in my Master’s degree in Berklee.
This piece is an adaptation of a short story by the Israeli Author - Etgar Keret, from his latest book "Fly Already".
It was an incredible and fascinating journey, exploring the story in depth, and challenging myself musically and narratively.

I don't know why I'm still up though the night has gotten late
Or why my heavy eyes stay open while my conscience bears the weight

But I'll feel for your hand next to mine

I don't know why these spreadsheets make my strumming limp and tired
Or why my wrist resists the action of trying to fan a choking fire

But I'll watch you build castles from lines

Buildings fall
And though our lives are small
Yours occupied a space in time
Where it merged into mine

I don't know if you noticed all the things from you I got:
That gentle cadence that you speak with, the way you like me quite a lot

And the feeling won't turn with the tide

I don't know my purpose or what direction I should take
And though the future makes me nervous for all the missteps I could make

I want you kept here by my side

When dusk turns dawn
I will keep you warm
You're the one I want to hold
When my hands turn cold

I don't know where home is, but maybe we can find our place
And visit Sussex in the summers just for a few untroubled days

The coastline recedes ever more

I don't know the ending of our chapter's final page
And I don't know what's worth spending, and I don't know what to save

But I love you - of this, I am sure.

My Little Slice Of The Universe (Demo)

Part I
Met with a friend a few weeks ago
Said he’s spending this Christmas alone

He sank in his shirt
Said he’d come home from work late one night
Found his wife’s wedding dress in the bin
They came undone
Just after their son became sick
And his office refuge spread her thin

“You looked so in love”
“But that’s not enough”
“Some lovers stumble, trip and fall”
“She had and held me accountable

The day she left me I choked and cried
I swore I’d love her till she died”

Part II
We took a walk later that night
Passed through alleyway sheltered from sight
And in a black liner bag something white
Caught his eye and he fell to his knees

I feared the worst,
Expecting tears - but he turned
With a smile that spread to his ears

It was a kitten there, shivering cold
He scooped her up, said “I’m taking her home,
And when I find out who left her alone out here
They’ll wish they never met me”

Now they share a bed
And she likes the outside
Little white bundle in garden rows
And so, he named her Mistletoe

He gave her water, watched her grow
And so, he called her Mistletoe

Part III
I saw my friend this Christmas just gone
He was singing Mistletoe a song
And glued to his lap
She was purring right back
Sat by the window, watching snow
“Merry Christmas, Mistletoe”

And through the darkness, street lamps glow
To “merry Christmas, Mistletoe”
