Song For The Spring Rain

I feel stoked to offer this mixtape to you all, featuring a lot of tracks from myself and the great artists on the @jumpsuit-records Label.  I dug deep on this one, and found some old gems.  Stay in for the long ride, if you can.  It's got a nice arc to it.  This mix strays a bit from standard dance/festival type mixes, since I'm a guitarist, and offer a lot of mellow, chill music.  That said, the initial build up is pretty quick, and then settles down halfway through for the acoustic set.   Sort of a "sweat, then pray" type of vibe.  
I feel incredibly honored to realize how many songs I'm involved in on the label at this point.  And there's more to come!  Thanks for listening...

I am happy to share with you some new music, to help keep you warm and feeling some beauty during this dark and cold season.  

This song came to me last year in the fall, and really holds for me the contemplative, introspective energy of this time.  I hope this one will help carry you through this last week of Autumn, and into the Winter Solstice.

Sound Of Leaves Falling

A fun, danceable acoustic piece featuring kora, guitar, mandolin, upright bass, and talking drum.
Initially written for my brother's wedding, this groove oriented piece took on a whole new life in the studio, with the help of fellow musicians Gordon Hellegers, MJ Greenmountain, and Cedar Hennings.

I wrote this on my mother's request for her wedding ceremony to Joe Cimbak in 2006. It was truly my joy to play it for them on that special day.

This was the last thing I recorded in the studio sessions. I had some time left, and - rather than pick through my old takes with a fine toothed comb - I decided to improvise a rhythm and lead track. This rhythm was something I had been playing around with that afternoon. I did one pass with an intro, and recorded the lead on top. We ended up keeping the first take of the lead as well. It holds the spirit of improv in that way.

A gift from Kaua'i in 2004. This came to me in a sweet moment on the farm where I work traded.

"Puakea" - a Hawaiian word I got from the baby name book that the expecting couple on the farm had. It means "White Flower Blossom". this was I time when I felt myself being "purified" by many of life's unfoldings. And this song has always captured the innocence and wonder that was fed by this chapter of my life.
