He is mostly known for his work with his siblings; Rana, Ali and Nilüfer. They gave many concerts during the 80’s in which they sang songs in almost 80 different languages. In 1967, he and Rana Alagöz came third in The Golden Microphone Contest and throughout their long career, they have earned 4 Golden Records and many other countless awards. Selçuk Alagöz released 23 singles and 7 albums to date. Released by Polydor label in 1975, Malabadi Köprüsü is Alagöz’s most popular song and it was a huge hit during the 80’s. Aziz Azmet was born in 1947. He started his music career in the band Meteorlar. In 1967, he joined Silüetler along with Murat Ses. The same year, the band released their one and only LP, which mostly consisted of covers of popular English songs. Later that year, Aziz Azmet and Murat Ses left the band and formed Moğollar, which went on to became one of the most popular Turkish bands. Not satisfied with the band’s musical direction, Azmet left Moğollar in 1970 and released 3 solo singles. Hiç İstemem was the B-side of his first single, Beni Yalnız Bırakma, released by Diskotür label. After working with 3 Hürel for a short time, Aziz Azmet put an end to his musical life.

Unfortunately, there is little known about L.S.D. Orkestrası. They were a psychedelic rock band, as their name suggests. They competed in a Battle of the Bands organized by the newspaper Milliyet. Their only known single, Dönmeyen Sevgili / Neye Geldin Dünyaya was released in 1967 by Melofon label.

Özdemir Erdoğan was a prominent figure in Turkish music. He has released countless singles and albums since the end of 60’s. He is known for experimenting with many genres, such as jazz, pop, folk, Turkish classical music and light music. He released Gurbet in 1972 by Yonca label. It is one of his best known songs and it was used in countless Turkish movies.

Yabancılar were founded in the 1960’s by Tansu Erkut, Suha Aktar, Nusret Orcan, Aykut Ersan, Oktay Ulukok and Murat Akaltan. Unfortunately, there is little known about the band. Their only known single, Ağıt / Kayalar, was released in 1967. Ağıt is a great example of psychedelic Anatolian rock and it is considered one of the best pieces of Turkish rock music ever, which makes this band a legend among Anatolian rock fans.

Born in 1963, Alpay was one of the most productive musicians of the era, releasing countless albums and 45’s up to today. He experimented with a number of genres such as folk, rock and pop. He is known for his soft and bloomy voice, and he has even sung in Italian and French. His hit songs include “Eylülde Gel” and “Fabrika Kızı.” His version of “Kirpiklerin Ok Ok Eyle,” which is an old folk song that has been covered by countless musicians, was released in 1967 by Sayan label. His interpretation of the song is interestingly short (it is only 2 minutes long) and has a more modern sound than most of the covers made during his era.

Hardal (Mustard) was one of the most original, forward-thinking and yet, underrated bands in the history of Anatolian rock music. Known for its clean and progressive sound, Hardal was founded in 1978 by Sedat Avcı, Cihat Kukul, Aydın B. Şencan and Şükrü Yücel. They released their debut album “Nasıl Ne Zaman” (How? When?) in the same year and this title track is among their best known works. The album was re-released by Shadoks music in 2009; yet their LPs are mostly hard to find.

Multi-instrumentalist Fikret Kızılok was a pioneer of Turkish rock music and he was known for his experimental and political works. He formed the band Tehlikeli Madde (Dangerous Matter) with Turhan Yükseler, Ataman Hakman, Siret Yurtsever, Sahir Kayıhan and Eser Sayıner. They only released two 45s during the 70’s. “İnsan mıyım, Mahluk muyum, Ot muyum” is a cover of the ballad “Hiçbir Türlü Bulamadım Ben Beni,” written by Aşık Veysel. It was the B-side of “Aşkın Olmadığı Yerde”, which was released in 1974 by Şah Plak.

Apaşlar was founded in 1956 by Mehmet Soyarslan and Yalçınkaya Tümay. After some name and lineup changes, the band met with Cem Karaca in 1967. It was the first band Cem Karaca has worked with, and together they have released several 45’s and EP’s between 1967 and 1970, some of which also featured German Ferdy Klein Orchestra. Şans Çocuğu was a product of this unique collaboration, an instrumental piece with highly energetic guitar melodies and loud drum beats. It was released as the B-side of Resimdeki Gözyaşları in 1968 by Türkofon label.

A surf rock influnced instrumental composed by Mehmet Soyarslan founding member of Apaşlar. The song took place in Cem Karaca & Apaşlar single Resimdeki Gözyaşları / Şans Çocuğu released in 1968 under Türkofon label. Band consisted of Cem Karaca (vocals), Mehmet Soyarslan (electric guitar), Seyhan Karabay (bass guitar), Leon Habib (drums) and Ferdy Klein Orchestra. Şans Çocuğu was shadowed by the great success of Resimdeki Gözyaşları.

A track from Erkin Koray’s second album, Elektronik Türküler (Electronic Ballads), which was released in 1974 by Doğan Plak, and later re-released by Özmüzik. Erkin Koray is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Anatolian rock, and this album is a major example of his influence. Combining psychedelic and progressive rock with traditional Turkish elements, it still stands as one of the most acknowledged and acclaimed examples of Anatolian rock.

Hürel brothers (Onur, Haldun and Feridun) made music under different names such as Yankılar, Trio İstanbul and Biraderler during the 60’s. In 1970, they formed the band 3 Hürel (or 3 Hür-El), one of the first Anatolian rock bands. They weren’t as political and controversial as their contemporaries and they managed to stay underrated until this time. They always wrote their own songs, invented saz-guitar, worked in different areas of art, won the first Western golden record award in Turkey, experimented with different styles; they became one of the most original bands in Anatolian rock. They released 12 singles and 2 albums between 1970 and 1976. “Ve Ölüm / Şeytan Bunun Neresinde” was their first single, released in 1970 by Diskotür label. The band split in 1977 after their parents died. In 1996, the brothers came together again and made 2 more albums.

Founded in 1967, Moğollar was one of the biggest bands in Turkey during the 70’s. They were among the founders of Anatolian rock with a melodic, psychedelic and blues-influenced sound, and they were also heralded as the kings of Anatolian pop. Their popularity even spread to Europe and earned them many prestigious awards. They worked with countless musicians, ranging from Barış Manço to Selda Bağcan. Even though they took a long hiatus between 1976 and 1992, they are still making music, which puts them among the most active Turkish bands.
Their first and also most famous and influential album, Anadolu Pop, was first released in 1971 in France. 2 years later, it was released in Turkey by Yavuz Plak. An instrumental piece, Haliç’te Güneşin Batışı (Sunset In Golden Horn) is the 7th song off the album. It clearly shows why these guys are called the fathers of Anatolian pop. The band’s unmistakable talent is on full display here; especially Murat Ses’ keyboard solos are very much ahead of the time. 

An ethno driven - progressive song that took place in the “Danses Et Rythmes De La Turquie D'Hier À Aujourd'hui” album which won Académie Charles Cros award (had “Anadolu Pop” name in the Turkey release). Band first released the song on single Ternek / Haliç'te Güneşin Batışı in 1970 under Diskotür label.

A track from the single “Deli Gönül Neylersin / Düşenin Dostu Olmazmış” of Ağrı Dağı Efsanesi released in 1972. Ağrı Dağı Efsanesi came together as a band after Murat Ses left Moğollar in 1971. The band consisted of Murat Ses (Hammond organ, Moog, harmonica - previously in Meteorlar, Silüetler and later on Kurtalan Ekspres, Dostlar), Nejat Toksoy (vocals, kazoo previously in Mavi Işıklar as vocalist), Mustafa Sarışın (guitar, bağlama, yaylı tambur), Fikret Ural (guitar), Nadir Uygun (drums), Erhan Akdoğan (bass), Tahsin Ünüvar (flute), Taner Öngür (guitar), Hüseyin Sultanoğlu (drums), Murat Töz (bass). 

They released three singles: “Deli Gönül Neylersin / Düşenin Dostu Olamazmış” in 1972, “It's Allright / Gün Doğmadan Neler Doğar”in 1973, “Fasulye Dişli Adam / Dağ Çiçekleri” in 1976.

Kaygısızlar were formed in 1965 by Fuat Güner, Ender Arol and Semih Aksoy. Shortly after, Fuat Güner met Mazhar Alanson and asked him to join the band. They went through some lineup changes and finally, in 1967, they met with Barış Manço. They released 8 singles together, which were deeply influenced by beat music and psychedelic rock. Their first single without Barış Manço, “Şaşırdım / Son Gece” was released in 1969 by Sayan label. “Şaşırdım” was an interpretation of the song “Short Circuit” by the rock band The ID. After releasing 3 more singles, the band split in 1971.

3 Hürel was first founded with the name of Yankılar by three brothers, Onur, Haldun and Feridun Hürel. They changed the band’s name to İstanbul Dörtlüsü just because Yankılar was already used by another band. The brothers began their music career with an accordion which their daddy gave them as a promotion gift. In 1967, they founded Oğuzlar and attended Golden Microphone Contest with a song of Zeki Müren. The band, which wore hippie costumes in the concerts, got famous after an interview published on Diskotek magazine. They were also awarded with runner-up prize by Diskotek. They made an instrument named bağlama-guitar which was identified with them. In 1973, they received Golden Record Award by Türk Popu magazine. Sevenler Ağlarmış was released in 1974 on Feridun Hürel’s solo album.
