Greek artist @fragedis premieres their track breaks-infused techno track "Kliris" off the new Pi Electronics Splits vinyl series.

Split #1 marks the debut of a new vinyl series, to be hosted on the Various Artists catalogue of the label Pi Electronics. The Split series will be bringing two artists on the same vinyl, with this very first release presenting music by Greek producers Fragedis and Nemmett.

Despite different backgrounds of electronic music, Fragedis is a prolific figure of the Cretan islands’ dance scene, while Nemmett is one of the Athenean founding members of the ᾽π᾽ crew. Both artists premiere absolute weapons for this vinyl release.

On the A side, Fragedis delivers a techno/breaks cut of dystopian melodies and vocal samples with his opening track “Flantza." His second track, “Klirish” blends industrial leaning percussions with Detroit techno flavored synths.

On the flip side, Nemmett returns with his trademark industrial / breaks sound, in a hypnotic, rap vocal atmosphere with the track “Altars." His broken beat influences go more noise with his second track “Teeth”, which concludes the B side of the vinyl.

[PREMIERE] Mova - Fear Of II [WIE EIN GOTT]

Dark Entries Editions is venturing into new waters with a remix EP of Psychic TV’s classic Acid House song “Alien Be-In”. Psychic TV was formed by Genesis P-Orridge and Peter Christopherson after the breakup of Throbbing Gristle in 1981. After various line up changes, the band shifted direction to dance oriented songs influenced by the Acid House scene in America. By 1988 experimental electronic musician Fred Giannelli, of Turning Shrines, joined the band and over the next 2 years started to record songs for “Toward The Infinite Beat”. The album was a mix of deep, multilayered tracks full of bright and hypnotic dance numbers, providing the soundtrack to the rave culture that sprung up in the UK in the 90s. 

“Alien Be-In” was written in early 1989 on an E-mu Emax Sampler and an Alesis MMT-8 sequencer.  Vocal samples were taken from a tape Germs drummer Don Bolles sent to Genesis. A didgeridoo rides throughout the song, heavily modulated by a Gristleizer creating a hypnotic effect. Near the end of the song the breakbeat slides out of time yet the band chose to leave this in because it sounded strange and fit the concept of the track. Genesis played a spaced out Echo Violin and the band used 360 degree panning rotation devices. For this reissue Fred Giannelli takes a stab at remixing the mono mix of the original sequence sourced from the Emax floppy discs. On the flip are two brand new mixes, the first from Los Angeles based producer, Silent Servant, who updates the classic with his modern brand of driving EBM techno.  The second remix is a team effort from Silent Servant and veteran producer John Tejada, that re-creates the original melody using a Roland TR-808 and TB-303, paying homage to early Chicago Acid House artists like Lil Louis and Robert Owens. 

All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The 12” is housed in a mind-alerting, metallic silver die-cut sleeve and a neon green label that pops through, featuring the psychic skull transformed into an alien cone head label all designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a 2-sided 11x11 square insert with black and white photo of the band from 1988 and liner notes by Fred Giannelli.

From a party-series to a community-driven record label, Oracool releases its second Various Artists compilation, Don’t Know.

The label’s journey began in early 2024 with its debut release, Sins, curated by Oracool founder and multidisciplinary artist Adelina (Banoffee Pies Records). Partnering with an eclectic mix of next-gen Ukrainian producers, Oracool immediately drew attention from tastemaker outlets like Resident Advisor, Inverted Audio, Bolting Bits and MixMag Ukraine, cementing its status as a label with deep roots in the underground and an eye on the future.

Now, with the second release, Don’t Know, the young label expands its horizons, introducing an ultimate roster. Among the contributors are DJ Normal 4, Stanislav Tolkachev, ISH under a new alias, aon , Privacy, Interviews, Jana Woodstock, Costa, Koloah and Zagorui,  Sirakusy and Adelina herself.

Don’t Know is an exploration of uncertainty—a reflection of our times. The nine tracks of the compilation trace a journey from Kyiv to Berlin and Paris, guiding the listener through different facets of electronic music. At times mystical and melancholic, and at others energetic and wild, the compilation explores everything from sensual minimal techno and tactile trance to IDM and the label’s signature dancefloor-oriented electro.

The broken-beat structures that have become Oracool’s hallmark return here, anchoring the record in a sound that is both cerebral and primal, urging movement while leaving room for introspection. 

Time accelerates, becoming turbulent and answers that seemed clear yesterday shift—along with the questions themselves. Don’t Know can be both a starting point for the pursuit of knowledge and a rejection of both the question and knowledge itself. 

The compilation will be available on all platforms from December 1.

Common Poetry is a duo from Bogotá and founding members of the event series Rubber Mind and the new imprint Rubber Mind Recordings.
Common Poetry explores the poetics of the primitive, the failure of humanity, sexuality, magic rituals, psychedelic ceremonies, submission and power. In 2019 they performed in Europe and Asia, including a live act at Saüle, Berghain in Berlin. This year they released their first vinyl,  a V/A  compilation, 'Ecstasy & Transmutations',
Their sessions are characterized by combining heavy electronics with noise in transit between, techno, experimental, ritual and industrial/ EBM.
