About two years ago we had our first episode of the Navigare Audio podcast and 24 chapters in we're humbled to see how it's living its own kinda life, with beautiful contributions from friends and friends to be. Such gifted artists, producers and djs who're willing to give. Thank you. 

Next up is Anomali from Gothenburg, another brilliant story teller who handcrafted this journey specifically for us this summer. He's an avid composer of brilliant mixtapes on many known channels and platform out there and it's a true pleasure  to have him onboard on our ship as well. 

"When I was first approached by Navigare Audio about possibly making a mix I felt very honoured, I’ve always thought that their concept and releases resonated with me. When I was asked if I was interested in doing a longer mix than usual, I knew this was going to to be rewarding. The mix itself was recorded at Kolgruvan, Ringön, Göteborg. I hope you’ll enjoy this journey over many tempos and intensities."

PSYCHEDELIC_FOREST: Mørkøye

"This mix is inspired by life on a microscopic scale. I drew from two different topics I have been reading about over the past year or two, the first being moss & lichen, and the second being quantum physics. Robin Wall Kimerer’s writing on moss introduces the reader to a tiny world teeming with life beyond our vision, and Carlo Rovelli’s writing on quantum physics attempts to help us understand the minute & strange fabric from which reality is theoretically woven. 

The word subtle can be read as describing something delicately complex & understated, as well as something arranged in an ingenious & elaborate way. Thus, the plane of subtle form paints an image of the intricate realm of the minutiae. Moving through rainforests of moss and gorges of bark, the mix traverses this infinitesimal yet vast expanse. Becoming gradually more abstract towards its centre, things break down completely at a moment of quantum instability, a leap between one state and the next. We emerge into a new place in an instant and continue forth into the strange & unpredictable beauty of our natural world." 

Bio: Born in London & having lived in Bristol, James Laing aka Night Garden draws from the sounds of those two cities, alongside musical knowledge gained during his classical compositional training. With releases on Melifera, Bahn, Indefinite Pitch & Breatice M's hybrid Dubstep label, Bait, Night Garden aims to create richly psychedelic & hypnotic pieces which combine modern sound design with classical theoretical concepts. 

Night Garden is a musical project embodying an imagined space between our conscious reality & the land of dreams. It is a liminal point in space & time; a home to drifting forms & sounds unknown. Suspended in a twilight haze, its nebulous inhabitants float into distant obscurities, shedding ephemeral traces from their transient skin.

Episode 06: Hooley

Our sixth journey sees us make a return to our hometown, with a deep and psychedelic trip from Leeds local Hooley. Hailing from Batley, this Yorkshireman has witnessed the flourish and decay of the city’s music scene. Hooley is often found cranking out the tunes in the cosiness of local haunt Outlaws Yacht Club, as well as  having played multiple sets at Leeds’ Club Cosmos - a Sunday sit-down session focused on electronic psychedelia and the Leftfield.

With a palette rooted in the stranger side of music, from stoner rock to disco, it’s no surprise that he works for Leeds’ oddball station Narr Radio. Hooley’s tastes in techno are on fully display in this mix, having opted for tracks with rich sound design goodness that you’ll find woven neatly together, inviting you into the warmth of the wormhole. From classics of the deep techno genre to recent releases on some of our favourite labels, you’re sure to be locked in tight for the next eighty minutes. Dive in!

What Lies Beyond 06: Hooley

this mix was created to express and capture the mystical parad0x texture, colors, essence and atm0spheres of the domains i found myself in, and kept going back to, into my dreamw0rld for over a while till the circle closed recently. So I can finally share safely.  Dreams came in as a continuous series into a very specific c0mpilation of places, energies, em0tions and events I've only experienced into that dimension, I could even place everything on a map. It kept running on an open tab during my conscious life as well channeling these states and narratives at times, unintentionally as well, almost like existing in both planes. Words will never do tho, so here is music. To keep these worlds forever captured in my crystal:)
