When we're young we looked with unyielding anticipation to the future, & our thoughts were focused on what we can do--so heavily-- that we did not think about preparing to die...As we got older, we tend to look back & reminisce  a collage of memories--of what we did . We keep a mental bouquet of thoughts to refresh us wherever we travel--whether in  everyday real life or just in our daydreams to  encourage ourselves to keep growing & going, until we finally have to exit this life.
