Italian vinyl-only imprint Cosmic Rhythm returns with the debut EP from B.U.M.. Short for Bari Underground Movement, the project is a new venture from Cosmic Rhythm head honcho Nicola Loporchio and Michele Lamacchia. With an attraction to mystical grooves, atmospheric dreamy vibes and natural sound elements, both producer have clocked in releases on Kalahari Oyster Cult, Smallville Records and Cosmic Rhythm under several aliases.

Following his contribution to Permanent Vacation's annual V.A. compilation, Cómeme mainstay Christian S returns to the Munich-based power house in full eccentric fashion with a new 5-tracker. Titled "Tannin", the record deftly weaves between psycho and percussion driven house cuts, injected with a steady dose of quirky chords and vivid synth arrangements. With the tracks being composed during different productive phases, the package sees Christian link up with the Cómeme crew and features Matias Aguayo, Sano and Korkut Elbay.

DJ Pierre’s seminal Afro Acid welcomes a host of contemporary talents to remix Joyce Muniz including Oliver Dollar & Stefan Braatz, Alinka, Lauren Flax and Hannah Holland. The original single landed earlier this year and did plenty of damage around the world.

It is the German pairing of Oliver Dollar & Stefan Braatz who go first. The former is a master of sample heavy house with real heart, and often collaborates with Braatz. Here they offer a prickly version with chattery Chicago claps and bouncing drums and bass that will energise any set in style. Chicago native Alinka is next and is known for her weird and idiosyncratic take on house on labels like Crosstown, Classic and her own Twirl. She imbues her music with the spirit and history of the Windy City and here layers in acid flashes and machine gun like lasers that make
for a brilliantly dark and involving groove.

Lauren Flax comes from Detroit by way of Brooklyn and has worked with the likes of Little Boots and Tricky, DJed at Panorama Bar and released her jack tracks on cult labels like Unknown to the Unknown. Here she fantastically builds the pressure with gliding hi hats that get under your skin as the fat bass props up the libidinous and seductive vocals and acid twitches. Last of all, UK sensation Hannah Holland is a queen of bass heavy sounds and brings that to her remix, which is a slick and kinetic track of prickly drums, acid stabs and freaky synth work.

This is a powerful package of fresh and forward looking house music.

Joyce Muniz - Give Me The Taste Ft. Kim Anh (Alinka Remix) - Afro Acid

Breaking their run of EPs on International Feel, Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella reunite as Black Spuma with a trio of cuts on Futureboogie Recordings. The title track, is a throbbing, pulsating, bit-crunching beast of a track. A full mind and body workout that evokes the darker shades of early acid and new beat. 'Agguato' also packs a punch, with heavy drums sequences resonating throughout, whilst waves of hedonistic tones cut through feint melodicas and space invader tropes for a mind melting moment.

B2.Nyra - Atoms of Joy

A Delusions of Grandeur release is always something to look forward to and so it proves once more as they welcome Parisian newcomer Larry Quest to the label with his Conun Drums EP. Four slick, drum heavy house cuts are the order of the day here, leaning into elements of Detroit techno for inspiration. Our pick 'Solar Assailer' woos us with an off-beat rhythm track and thick soulful stabs, with a bubbling bass-line that anchors the entire groove. A slightly jazzy vibe hangs over clever drum work;  making this track an interesting yet irresistable closer to this solid EP.

Décalé and Bongo Joe Records present an all new compilation placing the spotlight on the Swiss experimental and electronic scene of the ‘80s and the early ‘90s. The compilation Intenta assembles under-appreciated gems, sought-after titles and newly mixed versions. It places leftfield synth-pop next to otherworldly jazz, and joins the dots between lyrical post-punk excursions and proto-house experimentation.
The compilation covers a period of transition: When songs mutated into sounds. When synthesizers and samplers became the règle du jeu in DIY music-making. When a politicized youth movement slowly gave way to the hedonistic embrace of techno culture in Switzerland. Intenta mines the outer fringes of a scene yet to be. Many of these experimenters were pretty much on their own. Often the only way you would get in touch was at the local synth dealer.
A spirit of bold improvisation inhabited studios between Geneva and St. Gallen: these artists were articulating pop sensibilities (Air Project, Sky Bird, D-Sire, Peter Philippe Weiss), entering computer worlds (Claudine Chirac, Olivier Rogg, Carlos Perón), exploring exotic shores (Andreas Hofer, Bells of Kyoto, Fizzè), building future discothèques (Aborted at Line 6, Carol Rich, UnknownmiX) or finding glacial bliss (Dressed Up Animals, Elephant Château, I Suonatori).
The compilation was put together by Matthias Orsett and Maxi Fischer. Intenta unfolds as a sonic story that is laid-back yet energetic, sultry yet daring. The two crate diggers set out to meet with many of the artists arrayed here. Memories were shared, wine bottles opened. There were moments of sadness: Karl Lienert Löwenherz (Dressed Up Animals) and Claudius Scholer (Sky Bird) passed away during the making of this project. What remains of this journey into the backrooms of Swiss popular culture, is Intenta. If you listen closely, it will reveal a nation on the move. Beyond the Matterhorn, there is sweetness and light. Straight out of Melbourne, Ryan Berkeley takes on jazz-house group Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchanges self-titled album (originally released in 2018 through Wax Museum Records) and flips Nikita into a hypnotic deep house roller in typical Berkeley fashion. 

Starting off with swirling pads and raw 909 drums the remix takes you into cruise control all the way to the bridge, which tips its hat to the original ZFEX sound and melodies building up and up with flutes and synths taking you to a climactic finish.

Ziggy Zeitgeist has become a staple of the Australian Music scene. Touring and recording with Melbourne Nu-Soul/ future-jazz collective, ‘30/70’ has enabled Zeitgeist to forge new frontiers in improvisation and drum-set application. Zeitgeist has stepped up to the role of bandleader in the debut self-titled album Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange. 

The vision of this project was to create a live band experience that is closely aligned with an extended DJ set, heavily influenced by club culture and transformative festivals where people seek a more transcendent experience- a continuous odyssey, sound and groove with the spirit of live improvisation. The main influences for this project include house, broken beat, and a good dose of 70’s jazz-funk in order to create a unique and cosmic pocket.
