I can't remember the exact first time I met Squidbrain--it was pre pandemic 2010s in Philly so I was wilin'--but I do distinctly remember a great time hanging out at a pier party rave on Columbus Blvd in Philadelphia and loved his vibe. We stayed in touch over the years. I particularly loved his knack for digging for quality but obscure music and quirky sense of humor.

It took until 2023 when I visited him in Berlin, Germany, his residence for a while now, did we really get to kick it for a while. Wearing a bucket hat at a bougy Berlin bistro, it was great to see he still kept the Philly funk in Berlin. We caught up on old times...I learned some unique things about being a Berlin resident and that he's still staying creative with music. It's always refreshing to hang out with a long time club friend in the daytime.

To my surprise, he had been keeping up with the Ancient Puzzle Arts podcast abroad and wanted to contribute a mix. Of course I agreed, not knowing what to expect. In typical form, Squidbrain provided a very unique selection of global underground dance music where the entire mix is comprised of people he personally knows. The mix is quite eclectic but somehow sounds cohesive and very modern. It's cool to hear Squidbrain is staying connected and supportive of his talented friends and able to bring a global perspective to the mix series.
