This very first instance in the &FRIENDS MIX SERIES is by co-founder & resident Nice FM. This Amsterdam based DJ/producer lives up to his name and is guaranteed one of the nicest guys you'll meet. He's been producing and DJing for over 15 years now. His sound is not easily defined, but best described as worldly, rhythmic & funky, always with some warmth and soul in it.

In this mix, Nice FM dives into the funkier side of his sound, sharing personal favourites from his collection over the years. He really likes playing downtempo stuff to get you in the right groove. Starting with a more mellow BPM, the mix gradually sweeps you into a whirlwind of grooves and tempos.

Think of being at a beachside bar in Copacabana, the sun dipping beneath the horizon, while sipping on some double Fristi's on ice. Nice FM recorded this mix on Sunday morning in his living room to take you on a journey of pure bliss.

Expect the unexpected when it comes to the second episode of the &FRIENDS MIX SERIES by our beloved Friend Midi Waters. The idea that there is always an amazing song or artist he hasn't heard yet is what inspires him. Midi's story is one of unwavering passion for music. He started as a DJ at weddings and social events, all in the early '90s. He never stopped seeking out the tunes he loved on rare import 12"s in the era before CDs and tapes took over. His dedication to music led him to a double turntable setup and the incredible ability to mix vinyl seamlessly.

Midi Waters is known for his love of the uplifting energy and forward drive in broken beat music, which he masterfully blends with other bassy 130bpm elements. This all leads to a sonic experience that's both euphoric and dark at times, but always embodies the &FRIENDS vibe you know and love.

Fast forward to today, and Midi Waters' studio in Neukölln serves as the backdrop, where he's joined by his furry companion, Phil, surrounded by stacks of records that have stories to tell. This vinyl-only mix, all expertly mixed by hand on a pair of trusty 1200s and an old Vestax mixer, promises to transport you to new sonic horizons.

For the Amsterdam born & bred DJ OMIT music is an integral part of his life. Starting off as a drummer, rhythm, percussion and groove are things he learned at a very young age. As he grew older his love for electronic music grew stronger, resulting in a passion for House music. The last few years his taste seems to drift more and more into the sound of the 90s.

What makes those records feel so special, to him, is that they really express the spirit of that time. The excitement of something new, the sheer sense of euphoria, a musical and cultural revolution, you can really hear it in those records. That's why he decides to dedicate this mix to the 90s era, filled with some of his favourite records and new finds, from the late 80s till deep in the 90s. 

The mix starts off with one of his favourite interviews from VPRO's Onrust documentary on House music between '88 and '92. As we stand at the start of a musical revolution, KC the Funkaholic perfectly describes the way he still feel nowadays when he hears a record he knows he'll love for the first time. He cannot agree with him more that these records really knock you off your boots when you hear it pumping through a great sound system (or headphones). So put on some headphones or turn up your system and let DJ OMIT take you on a trip full of pure nostalgia.

As we near the year's end, the amazing Producer/DJ and our dear Friend Daidu makes sure we go out with a bang. For Daidu, hailing from our hometown, the journey began with drumming, his interest in different grooves and beats eventually lead him to producing and DJing. Each music genre's distinctive mixing style continues to fuel his passion to explore a playground of endless possibilities.

This eclectic mix embodies a fusion of old-school hip-hop, jazz, paired with Chicago and Detroit influences, unified by one core element: soul. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Q-Tip, Kendrick, Yussef Dayes, Kyle Hall, and DjRUM, Daidu crafts a sound that pushes our sound and exemplifies top-tier DJing.

As the sun rises, Daidu sets the vibe for this mix, going beyond the usual. He tries out funky mix timings, blending techno, enjoying the freedom to mess with time signatures. The mix builds up to an awesome trip, flipping between deep, heavy, and mind-bending sounds that suck you right in.

We're back this new year with an exclusive mix from **mod**, a DJ whose deep connection to music has been part of her journey since day one. From daydreaming of playing for large crowds to actually stepping behind the decks eight years ago, mod has made her mark by crafting multi-genre sets that fuse house, techno, breaks and trance, and above all are always full of surprises.

Her DJ career began at friends' parties, eventually evolving into her own parties, often DnB events, where she honed her craft and developed her versatile, instinctual sound. For this mix, mod revisited her roots by digging through her “old music” list, finding tracks that sparked her love for DJing 8–9 years ago. The mix starts with nostalgic selections like Young Wolf – Kabuki (Spiritual Version), one of her first vinyl records, and builds into a seamless blend of old and new.

Recorded in her new apartment overlooking Amsterdam, this mix reflects her passion for music as a force that connects people and shapes emotions. The session is filled with hypnotic rhythms, uplifting energy, and a bunch of brilliant mashups to close things out.
