To kick off 2014, we proudly welcome Israeli DJ-producer Lian July and Canadian vocal talent Eli to our parent label with the deep and sensual "Surrender". On remix detail, we're thrilled to welcome back global phenom LTN, whose consistently visionary work has appeared across countless Progressive & Trance radio playlists of late, as well talented label veteran Digital Sixable, whose own contributions last year proved to be some of the highlights of our catalogue.

The Original Mix kicks off with an energetic rhythm and deep bassline, as Eli, singing in a beautiful tenor, delivers the opening verse. Hypnotic, swirling pads offer great "dimension" to the soundscape, while various other flourishes are provided by additional synth layers, including a repeating organ motif. The groove continues to subtly crescendo throughout the track, and the titular vocal "hook" offers a gorgeous climax. 

LTN contributes a pair of stunning remixes; both vocal and dub versions are included in the pack. A much deeper, "late-night" affair, his interpretation kicks off with a moody aura, as a variety of noir-influenced jazzy stabs build anticipatory suspense, leading up to the main break. Eli's soulful lyrics and emotive delivery are powerfully felt, as the more minimalist groove really allows the vocal to breathe. The instrumentation continues to pick up steam, as a guitar riff and crystalline, bell-tinged effects add wonderful melodic texture to the already lush soundscape.

Finally, rounding out the package, American sensation Digital Sixable offers a poignant 'Dub' take. A dark, after-hours groove sets the stage for a contemplative and soothing interpretation. The main melodic themes of the original have been beautifully re-worked on the piano; moving string effects reinforce the emotional impact.

For such a concise discography, the history of one of EDM’s greatest cult duos has been writ plenty large. ‘Summer Calling’. ‘Beautiful Things’. Two tracks, two successive years, two conclusive anthems and ones that masterminded the rocking of countless club floors. That was followed by a recorded-but-never-released long-player, band hiatus, a parting of ways and finally, in 2011, the reunion.

Andain began as an experimental, electronica group in 2000. Singer/song-writer, Mavie Marcos, grew up performing in the theatre and studied classical voice in college. Her musical interests led her to play in acoustic bands until she moved to San Francisco in 1999. During that time she met, and started writing an album with, producer Josh Gabriel (Gabriel & Dresden) who had studied composition at the California Institute of The Arts and was then working as a burgeoning electronic music producer.

Andain's first effort "Summer Calling" was released in 2002 by Black Hole Recordings for their renowned In Search Of Sunrise series. This launched the band's name into instant celebrity in the dance world. "Beautiful Things," their follow up single best known for the Gabriel & Dresden Remix, soon after appeared with even greater success. The song has now become a dance classic, with YouTube views of over 20 million.

Despite the fact that Andain's first full-length album was never officially released -- many of the tracks still drew massive fan acclaim from leaked versions, and were licensed to network television.

Mavie and Josh continued to write together over the years. With the demands of Mavie's publishing deal with Nettwerk and Josh's ever increasing work as an award-winning DJ and producer, their second full-length album would have to wait. Much to their fans' relief, Mavie and Josh decided to reform as a duo, and the resulting full-length record is due for release in 2012.

The first single off the album, "Promises," was released on Black Hole Recordings in June 2011. "Promises" has since then appeared on many compilations, and reached #13 in SiriusXM's BPM Top 51 of 2011. The YouTube views of all "Promises" videos combined is over 1,5 million and counting.

Says Mavie, "We blended natural acoustic sounds throughout the album with electronic percussive ones. We made sure to keep our musical sound pallet, made up of our drum kits and analog synth sounds, consistent throughout. We thought this would result in the most compelling and intricate album for the listener - something that is meant to be listened to, in its entirety, as a cohesive piece of music - not just a string of singles. " The combination of Mavie's classical and rock background with Josh's never ending love of early 80's new wave, mean they balance each other beautifully.

He was like, "In all my life (he seems late 40s, early 50s), I have never seen a guy/man with eyeliner,"

I just wanted so badly to say,
"Have you ever seen Batman or Spiderman?"
"Listened to a grunge, punk, rock band?"

Joker has eyeliner, Spiderman 3, I think, with Venom, Peter wears eyeliner;
rock bands, usually the lead singers, wear eyeliner.

He's just all talk.

There's this guy at work,
the one where I had the police officer trouble, being interviewed;

he was like,
"Why do you have that on?"

So I thought of an excuse,
"My girlfriend put it on."

And he's like,
"Well, go to the bathroom and wash it off."
"You're a man."
"You look like a transvestite/gay person."


And I immediately thought to myself,
'You don't care about how I feel about myself,
you just want to see me how you want to see me.'

This was so out of his mind.

Out of everyone,
he's the only one who questioned me in that way,
everyone else was cool about it and non-judgmental.

convince me that whatever I may be happening to be doing, insist that it can wait for tomorrow with a refreshed mind so I don't miss my bed time;
no daily 'staying up til midnight' business (once in a while is OK), and only getting 4-5 hours of sleep daily;

help me empty my mind out of all troubles, worries, anxieties, issues, annoyances, stress, everything, so that I don't go to bed conflicted or distraught.

And most importantly,
keep my spirits up.

Man, wearing eyeliner is like
