First single of 2021. ‘Maya's Dream’, a powerful yet kind of melancholic track. It goes from progressive house to melodic house, bringing together some of my past influences and all the stuff that has been brewing at the studio.


It all started with a bass synth that reminded me of the early tracks of Maya Jane Coles and, as you can imagine, that's how I came up with the title of the song. After that, the tune started to take a different path when I started introducing arpeggios and melodies recorded live, inspired by some Boards of Canada aesthetics, drum sounds from all the house music I was listening at that time and other elements based on pure experimentation.

After bringing all this together, this is what I came up with. Enjoy this hell-of-a track and give it all the love you can by sharing it with all your people.

Genius Of Time consists of Nils Krogh and Alexander Berg, both of whom have been actively making music for a good while now but began their journeys as Genius Of Time all the way back in 2010. There’s a deepness to their music which is hard to define in its perceptual and physical beauty, with each record they have released concerning itself with finding the right balance between ethereal textures and technical application. This finely struck relationship has allowed the duo to really explore the parameters of their sound, engaging the listener via sequences which take their time to unravel and hit all the right notes when the going gets good. From jazzy steppers through to bouncing 90s inspired gems, there is little which the pair feel is off the table, and that approach is indicative of a healthy mindset towards experimentation and ensuring that room is always found to grow into and dwell deep within. Giving and taking is always a great sign within electronic music, and Genius Of Time provide the kind of breathing space within their music which invites you in and takes you to very specific and magical kinds of places.

‘Vibe Sharp’ is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming album, ‘The Globeflower Masters Vol.2’. Glenn and Mark have crafted a rich tapestry of cinematic funk and European Library music. Inspired by such luminaries as Roger Webb, Stefano Torossi, David Axelrod & Serge Gainsbourg. 

‘Vibe Sharp’ is the perfect introduction to what people can expect from the album. Glenn has often said “The image in my head when I listen to our music is of driving a car through the Italian countryside, long roads, lined with cypress trees, creeping further and further towards the sunset”. 

This track, from a musical perspective, is the sound that best suits this image. Rolling drums, an antique Harpsichord and shimmering vibes, plucked 12 string guitar and looping bass all come together to create a sound which drives, but at a suitably relaxed speed to be able to watch the stunning landscape as it passes by.

"Anytime Anywhere" This track was recorded a couple of years ago and still has a lot of power to see the light on this days. It reflects the power of our psyche and how we can use our imagination as a powerful tool anytime, anywhere. We did a whole photo shoot to go along with this and the upcoming track with the great Yoel Torres Mata, to transmit this message also by the images we present here,


About the production side of the track, it has some elements that draw your attention and get under your skin. The voices that bring mistery to the track, the PAD that turns into a Lead in the bridge bringing some early Henry Saiz vibes to the atmosphere plus, the Chorus Lead-synth whit a layer of noise that altered by the modulation of a filter freq, gives a lot of strenght to the repetition of a single note.

Meandros

'Idiom' is Pépe's fresh and highly conceptual residency in Canino. With this show - and the ones to come - he aims to explore into the idea that our relationship to music is similar to that of language, an acquired collection of behaviours and traditions that shape every single inflection in our tone.

None of this music existed before this. Much of it will only exist here. In a way, it's been tailored for this listening experience and hopefully it serves as an itinerary for my ongoing exploration of sound.

Episode 1: The Universal Texture

The Universal Texture is a Google patent for mapping textures onto a 3D model of the entire globe. At its core the Universal Texture is just an optimal way to generate a texture map of the earth. As its name implies, the Universal Texture promises a god-like (or drone-like) uninterrupted navigation of our planet - says Clement Valla about this complex algorithm in his eponymous writing.

Much like these mappings, i'm trying to see this music as data points on a complex spectrum, and much like the glitches in the mapping of the earth creating an impossible landscape, i've aimed to draw out a soundscape as non-linear, meandering and complex as possible. Oftentimes arrhythmic and at times attempting to hallucinate a pulse out of non-linear methods of programming.

Please consider these recordings, wether featuring only me or esteemed peers, as hopefully a little more than just radio. small mixtape like morsels that try to figure out point-a-to-point-b vectors made of frequencies and time.

The hole track is a journey. Imagine waking up, taking your car and going to an incredible place in open nature; where the road you take to get there just drives you through this happy and chill experience. That's the feeling I wanted to portray on this track, based on the good memories I have travelling with friends and experiencing the great beauty of my hometown. There are always specific avenues or roads that give you this feeling so, go on and drive through Great Street Av.
