Physical Education returns for another head-first foray into the tech house we know and love. This time, label-head Baldo steps up to the plate with the four-track Groove Radiance. Joining him are Paramida and Liquid Earth, who dish up two suitably danceable remixes.

It’s glitchy, rhythmic musical goodness right from the word go. Hotplay takes the form of a bubbly little opener, one that’s soon re-interpreted by Panorama Bar resident Paramida. It’s her first remix to date and is packed full of low-slung, club-ready groove.

Baldo’s 1998 comes next, showcasing an acid-laced, tech-leaning sound that’s ripe for the late night hours, before Liquid Earth rounds off proceedings with a stripped-back, minimal-toned re-work.

Fio Fa is back with another release exploring his finely tuned approach to effortlessly rolling, yet playful pumpers that have become characteristic of his sound. This time on his new imprint Sunset Drifters, the label launches with 4 devious dancefloor cuts that solidify his sonic relationship with the sounds of early dance music. Straightforward yet effective, the EP merges his many inspirations - the dynamic drums & flecks of acid in proto-house, the rolling basslines of progressive, and the mini melodies and synth stabs of EBM and early rave.

We start our journey on a ride through the Turquoise Kingdom - a track that pumps & pouts. The bassline skips playfully between a short acid line, while sassy whistles light the way. We are guided to a moment with familiar samples from a classic, given a tasteful touch. This sample is carefully placed for a hit of nostalgia as we switch gears - going full speed towards Dash the bouncer. A held note keeps the anticipation high while building the drums to a frenzy. A task in tension building, the mood is sneaky & scheming. The tension continues to tower over us before we encounter the final boss. The b (boss) side begins with Enter The Turtle; strutting in at sultry o-clock, it is a provocative yet punchy prance in prog paradise. The release culminates with title track Sunset Drifters - a euphoric release, channelling the continuity of the modern progressive pulse. A stunning choice for sunrise or sunset, the captivating & catchy melody resolves into elation, bringing us a feeling that one would associate with their best moments on the dancefloor.

Bogotà born and raised DJ and producer Nicolas Duque has been lighting up the scene following a string of VA contributions and his perfect pop-tinged UKG debut EP on Breaks ‘N’ Pieces’. Since then Duque has gone on to release music that flirts with nostalgia and contemporary electronics on Dansu Discs, Magic Carpet and Limousine Dream sublabel Nug-Net, merging house with various UK flavours. Now he makes his debut on SITU Records with a futuristic four track EP demonstrating his fluidity between genres, this time opting for 4/4 kickdrums and pleasure-seeking bleeps. 

The sound of swinging hi-hats and classic bass notes churn as the record starts to spin, before distant electronics and crowd roaring grooves take hold in opening track ‘Ritmos Contundentes’. ‘The Unforbidden Track’ is the perfect follow up, this time introducing acidic leads and festival ready chords brimming with warmth and light. The Aptly titled ‘Ting-a-ling’ opens the B-side in a playful mood, with optimistic melodies racing at full steam ahead. The record comes to a close with ‘Midnight Library’ encompassing everything that makes this record great; the combination of mischievous, yet light-hearted grooves built perfectly around an interchanging melody.
