Shek O is a beach village located on a south-eastern peninsula of Hong Kong Island. It's got a great and very popular surfing beach. And a little fishing post, or back beach, where we like to go for a beer at Ben's bar. It's quiet and you can watch the moon coming up over the South China Sea.

First posted this as a rough mix back in April 2014. Now updated to the final mix for the album, mastered by Ray Staff at Air Studios, London.

Natural philosophy was the philosophical study of nature and the physical universe that was dominant before the development of modern science in the 19th century. 

It included the study of astronomy and cosmology, the study of nature the elements; the study of matter, and the philosophy of space and time. In this case I was thinking particularly of the study of air and the discoveries of the gasses that make up the atmosphere.

I knew when I gave this track to Erika that she would do something amazing. I didn't give her any brief or any comments on what she did. So the end result is nearly all her. She did an incredible job with the production, arrangement, guitars, drums and vocals. Big love too to headcharge777 for the superb bass. I'm very happy that my vocal and little bit of guitar playing made it to the mixdown too.

Moby's great original track has an amazing vocal from Skylar, which I wanted to dial right up, so I moved things around quite a bit, giving a slightly different slant on the story too.&#13;

My other intention was to give the whole track an An Di Yi flavour - which I did with a new bass line, some acoustic guitar, extra drums and, of course, a flugelhorn solo. I really like the result, but it's still 'Definitely Moby' - sounds like a good title for an album.&#13;

Written soon after I moved to Hong Kong last year, this one was sparked off by the sounds of insects I recorded on my phone as I walked down towards the city centre from The Peak. The urgent challenging rhythm, combines with slower more majestic sections ambient soundscapes and found sounds from the forest and the crowded city streets to reflect how I feel about this amazing city.

City In The Clouds - Hong Kong - Hangdrum - Percussion

One of my last Beijing songs. I was back in the city staying with friends after we had moved to Hong Kong. They lived in a local residential compound, and one morning while I was still lying in bed I heard the unmistakable sounds of the itinerant knife sharpener. One of the last traditional street cries, his call is highly distinctive and finished off with the unmissable sound of him scraping his tools on a hard surface.

So I turned on the zoom and got a reasonable recording out of the window. It became the foundation of this homage to Beijing's residential compounds and hutongs where the pace of the old city lingers on amidst the burgeoning development.

Thanks to Gyula for inviting me into his mad world! His tribal rhythms and beautiful mouth harp somehow reminded me of my trip to Cambodia last year - visiting the jungle elephants at Mr Tree's reserve in Mondul Kiri. Sex Jungle

Have always loved Splintered Finger's fantastic guitar-based music, so was totally delighted when they asked me to have a look at this spacey grove they dreamed up on a trip to Neptune. They sent me 36 guitar tracks haha! Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed remixing.

Froxie & An Di Yi: "Never At Ease" (Remix)

When Usagi (the typhoon, not the rabbit)hit Hong Kong, it was a black flag warning - so not allowed out for three days. It was the perfect time to listen to the rain and make music.

Now, back in London, it's been so refreshing to reimagine this idea with the ethereal processed acoustic violin sounds of the magical Katabasis. His multifaceted yet minimalist approach to sound takes the form of a constant dialogue between his external and internal environments. Combined, An Di Yi and Katabasis create atmospheric panoramas that glide across ideas of beauty, nostalgia, the melancholic and the uplifting.

A lockdown collab with German guitar player Sebastian Kromp . He recorded loops and solos out of his guitar amp and the rest all happened  in the studio with constant constant chats and calls to make sure we were feeding off each other.

I’m a London based composer with a background in advertising. For many years I played in bands and as a solo artist at night while writing ads during the day. In 2011 I was working Beijing as a creative director, by chance I got to play one of my compositions to Howie B, who loved it, and encouraged me to start writing and producing more seriously.

Under the name my Mandarin teacher had given me, An Di Yi (pronounced Andy E), I released two albums of ambient, filmic, trip-hoppy music using sounds recorded on my travels charting my experiences in a kind of musical diary. Beijing street traders, Himalayan mule bells, insects from the forests of Huangshan and black rain from Hong Kong, underpin an eclectic orchestra of virtual instruments and beats from both east and west, in a deeply-chilled fusion. The distinctive ambient groove of An Di Yi was born. An Di Yi built a considerable following here on SoundCloud, and has featured on BBC Introducing on Tom Robinson’s show. An Di Yi’s first ever live show, in Hong Kong, on 1/9/16, opened a new chapter, to rave reviews.

Now back in London, I'm working as a composer on commercial projects, new solo compositions, as a producer, and on collaborations with ambient electro-acoustic artist and violin player, Katabasis, and guitarist Seb Kromp.
