"Coming from Germany, Rampa is surely one of the hottest up and coming producers around at the moment. He has a history of producing acts that found their way directly into the charts. His Keinemusik label is on a roll at the moment and he is also behind some turntables between Berlin and New York, representing his own definition of music.

He teams up with Nomi Ruiz to produce the magnificent ‘Inside’. Born and raised in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York, Nomi began composing ballads around Hip-Hop heavy street samples. Her deep, dreamy vocals found refuge in these raw arrangements, and she began to create a unique brand of soul music.  She has grown to be a part of a movement of artists who are changing the landscape of contemporary music.  Her recent involvement with DFA's chart topping Hercules & Love Affair took her on a world tour. Her performance on 'You Belong', a duet with Antony from Antony and the Johnsons, is being compared to Yazoo-era Alison Moyet and the UK's Guardian referred to Nomi as a performer who boasts the spookily effortless air of a future pop icon.  She is also collaborating with keyboardist Morgan Wiley and bassist Andrew Raposo to form Jessica 6 .On the remix front Pete Gooding gets in the studio with Alex Tepper to produce a fantastic atmospheric mix keeping the main elements of the Original, adding a warm rhodes and a deeper vibe. 

André (aka &ME) has been smashing dance floors all year  with his tune ‘F.I.R.’. His remix of “Inside” shows his unique style of blending Techno and House music: strong beats, infectious synth lines and a whole lot of bass !

Eric Duncan, one half of Rub ‘N Tug and Still Going, delivers a swooning  balearic epic mix under his DrDunks alias, with a little help of Liv Spencer.  Another superb example of the fusion of edgy disco and house that DFA have become renowned for. 

Definitely an anthem in the making.

Catalognumber 23 – what else is to say? While we’re feeling the spirit of William S. Burroughs blessing this very vinyl-enigma, &ME went particularly mysterious ways to transcend the category ‘dance track’ for this one.
The meditation through bass had been the major discipline of some of his latest cuts, but what you’ll find on this A-side, one could certainly call the perfection of somnambulistic peaktime-fever. The way he’s kneading the lower frequencies, how he’s channeling the expansion and decay of bass must inevitably lead to some aroused moaning. Good vocal-selection, for that matter! Then there are those tension building synths and a staccato-frenzy in the break that might be the ultimate ecstasy-trigger of the season.
“Locust” on B comes in with some smoothly looped E-guitar-coolness, adding whispering hi-hats and a comparatively rich percussive architecture. But then again: rolling bass barrels like a signature and a defence breaking build up that’s ensued by liberating pressure compensation in mighty breaks. Two demonstrations of understated and sophisticated peaktime-emphasis, so to say. Or differently put: a flawless double-A-side.

&ME - After Dark (Preview)

On his latest offering, &ME is delivering quite the achievement. Co-produced with Black Coffee, the a-side „The Rapture Pt. III” obviously continues the narrative of its predecessors. But unlike in the motion picture business, where sequels tend to be watered down rehashes of the original, those Raptures are just getting better and better. It’s all here, the dense and gentle build-up, the tender piano lines, the just overwhelming emotion. Safe bet, we’re dealing with a future classic here.

Berlin based artist &ME is turning out to be something of a Saved favourite. Having just remixed Alex Tepper & Paul Harris' "Mumbo Gumbo" to amazing effect, the Hamburg born producer now readies himself to drop his debut Ep on the label. 

Currently heating up as one of the most exciting of the modern wave of house producers, &ME has rapidly built a strong following, due to his excellent releases for labels including Room With A View, International DeeJay Gigolos, Souvenir and label that he is heavily involved with, Keinemusik.

On his debut Ep for Saved, &Me delivers two fantastic cuts in "Red Flag" and "Clamb". Percussion heavy, both are just right and ready for the summer season floors. With "Red Flag" working its hypnotic drums and deep spoken vocal and "Clamb" dropping some sickening, stomach-churning bass business, this Ep is ready and set to become the next Saved Records... BOMB!

With his last EP offering on Keinemusik, &ME displayed himself once again as supplier of anthems that easily reconcile style with general floor purpose. You would think, such an universal and inexhaustible tune as this very “After Dark” can only be a lucky hit. But no, he’s knocking out the classic material just like that. Another example? Catalog number KM028, his brandnew “Trilogy” EP.
The titletrack on A initially places a synth arpeggio behind a kick that in dryness is hardly to excel. The beat of "Trilogy" is then seasoned with rimshot patterns until the saturated bassdrum comes in and paves the way to the dancefloor. &ME even refines his knack for stoic grooves on this jam and once again shows his sure feeling for suitable vocal features. Sabotas croon comes devoid of big gestures and still knows the ropes to appeal to the collective mentality of a clubcrowd.
On the flipside, “Woods” is living up to its name from the very beginning. Woody percussions are thumping within an almost subtropical scenario that’s frequently pervaded by mighty synth clouds. And once again, there’s an arpeggio sneaking in that at some point is taking the lead in this strictly instrumental affair. Add a break building that will educe a floor’s complete euphoric potential without going for the rather mindless escalation and there you have it: a B-side that’s actually more of an A-competitor.

As &MEs last two EPs on Keinemusik have been hitting the bulls eye of public perception immediately, his KM034 for sure will meet high expectations from DJs and crowd alike. What should one do within this sort of spotlight? Boil up the same old formula? Milk the cow? Play it safe? Well, &ME is rather going for the dont overthink it and just do whatever you like-option. Which in case of this "One On One"-EP is a collaborative effort with English singer/songwriter-enigma Fink thats letting musicality rule over functionality.
The titletrack on A comes creeping over the floor like an ash cloud. Built up on a grainy beat-pattern, having all lightness dashed out by droning bass, before Finks vocals are exorcising the ghosts of a heavy comedown. "One On One" has shaken off the facility of peaktime-consensus, before the straight kick comes in, but even that unmistakeable floor-referral is invalidated by gloomy harmonies after just a few bars. An obvious move against leadsingle-standards, but considering its omnipresent dark narrative and ultimately condensed vibe, "One On One" is without a doubt one of the strongest &ME cuts ever.
The offering on B1 might be considered as a bit more handy, but still: "Cape Coast" is rather grooving along a serious jungle-delirium than delivering easygoing beach-pleasure. A lot of hissing and chirping and rattling going on in between dense synth- and bass-layers, while live-recorded percussions are escalating into frenzy. Tribalhouse of a rather demonic breed.
Finally, Fink is stripping down the original outline of "One On One" into a sinister and subtle Dub-interpretation on B2. Blurred delays, sparse synths and occasionally implemented kick-detonations, reminding of an alarmingly lowered RHR. Meaning even wider room for his charisma breathing croon.

One on One

&ME - Cape Coast

One could say, &ME is following quite big footsteps when naming the A1 on his new keinemusik-release “Purple Rain”. On the other hand: Prince’s shoe size might measure a decent 4,5. That’s not even big enough to collect the plaster that will crumble from the ceiling after igniting this very floor epiphany. With this tune, &ME is following the path of reduction and straightness, he already opened with his preceding releases. We’ll find explicitness in its lyrics, claps as gratifying as in an enduring spanking session and a carpet of white noise that could be modeled after the addressed rain shower or maybe even after a smearing broom, that’s clearing the traces of sweat and the juice of arousal “Purple Rain” most definitely will leave on the dancefloor.
With “Glaced” on the flipside, &ME is taking three minutes to build it up spectacularly, just to change plans abruptly and throw it into another, quite unexpected direction. The then occurring and ongoing bassminiature won’t leave your head for some time to follow, that’s for sure. Let alone your legs.

For the first time in label history, Keinemusik is putting out an EP with just remixes. The moniker for this: Doppelgänger. The reason for this: Well, we like remixes and were curious to find out how other artists, artists that we appreciate a lot, would approach our material. Why now, you might ask. Why wait for the catalogue number KM038? See, we just wanted to offer those guys a decent pool of tracks to choose from.

Simple Symmetry are going for Adam Ports I Never Wear Black on Side A, transforming the original into a dramatic ride through gong echoing frenzy and riff-heavy e-guitar emphasis. The originals guitar lead on the other hand gets some synthetic treatment, just to be backed up by spaced out synth melodies and an organic bassline.

The second chapter sees &MEs and Finks gruelling comedown score One On One turn into a meditation over groove, courtesy of Bedouin. The guys are going for a sparse, sophisticated arrangement, opening space for Finks shattered croon, yet raising the temperature after the break into a threatening, string-laden climax.

The closing assignment is handled by Redshape. Hes repositioning Rampas Newborn Soul through his very own dark recourse on Electro-Techno. The producer enigma even more so adds some EBM flavour to his signature sound, incorporating a catchy synth bass and heavy, stomping beat. Floor quaking material indeed.

Guy Gerber - What To Do (&ME Remix)

It's been quite a wait for new &ME material here on Keinemusik. But these two new cuts, adding to our catalogue number KM046, sure have been worth waiting for. The EP starts with The Rapture Pt.II and as the title already suggests, it coherently takes up where his last original material had left us, in a stirred state of sweet, harmony-kissed affection. Known as a virtuoso of sound-details, &ME lives up to that reputation, implementing fine synth-elements and temperately rattling percussions, all conjoined by shimmering layers and, of course, an ultimately heart-melting Piano improvisation that at some point will play along to the rhythm of its synthetic brother to a finale that will leave no crowd untouched.

"Solaris" on the flipside adds indeed a futuristic note to the arrangement, opening up with a broken beat and propelling claps. A cut that, as much as its predecessor, is relying on flow and organic shifts rather than forced and peaktime formatted gimmickry, adding a synth arpeggio, white noise, vocal chants and harmonies in a rather subtle way. Nevertheless, it unfolds a compelling strength to heat the dancefloor gradually through its playtime.

Here we go with Keinemusik's newest release - it is already number 47 and going by the lovely title "Hand In Hand". Speaking of, let us just give you a hand real quick and elaborate on this. The label is actually turning ten years in 2019. That is ten years of quite a few buzz making records within the back catalogue, ten years of priceless memories on the road, in the studio or somewhere in-between and above all, ten years of doing things hand in hand. So therefore the release to celebrate the occasion simply needs to carry this name. The idea is pretty basic: everyone of the label's mainstays is handing in a tune. Rampa is starting things off on the A-side with "For This" - a collaborative effort together with Berlin born and London based singer Chiara Noriko. It is a track rich in contrast, laying down a roughly shaped foundation featuring a swirling bass and shimmering synthnotes, but then suddenly enriched by harmonies and topped off by Chiara's yearning croon. Safe to say, the rather emotively charged frames of a clubnight have been waiting for this. Then there's Reznik - up to this point being in the picture as the DJ only fella - chipping in "Schuhu's Groove". A cut that indeed delivers a good amount of grooving energy. And at the same time, a bright tune that's switching beat patterns and indulges in Neo-Disco- leanings and funked up synth arrangements. &ME is opening side B with "Fairchild" and yet another sophisticatedly laid out floor epiphany, showcasing his ability to shape monolithic yet soulful peaktime masterpieces. Here he introduces staccato synths on top of a stoic groove, that are being shrouded by a pending note and then ultimately enlightened by pads and an instantly infectious piano melody. And finally we find Adam Port on B2, pursuing his knack for lost African treasures. Once again he finds the source material in an old traditional by Quim Manuel O Espirito Santo. Port's edit of "Eme Lelu" seeks to update the original in some of the rhythmic patterns and create a whole new dramaturgic, floor tweaked build up, yet he leaves the original's cheer- and playful nature untouched. With his upcoming Keinemusik release, &ME is kick-starting the time machine, beaming you right into the year "1995". You know, the year in which Microsoft released Windows 95, Miguel Induráin is winning the Tour de France for the fifth time in a row and Robbie Williams quits his job at the Take That enterprise. In addition to those crucial events, that time also sees the rise of Two Step and Garage in the UK underground. Now play the eponymous tune on the A-side and you'll feel beamed right back into these days. "1995" comes along in absence of a straight kick, filling that gap with dense subbass layers and phantasmal Ambient soundscapes. Then again, there is that tambourine loop, getting the groove on, a staccato synth getting into your head immediately and those high pitched vocals providing the needed amount of oddness. A tune most folks might not have expected from &ME, yet one of his strongest anyhow.

"Starting Again feat. Atelier" finds the man going back to more common ground, re-introducing the straight kickdrum, wading through a haze of Ambient- and pad-layers, installing a catchy synth on top and then letting those utmost affecting vocals shine. Vocals that, as well as the guitar arrangements, come courtesy of Jas, the singer of Atelier - a band from South Africa.

When one could assume, &ME entered the House and Techno world somewhat out of the blue, it is due to his sublime modesty that’s already captured in his alias. His way to become one of today’s most praised and sought after DJ/producers is based on a solid foundation. A foundation comprised of solo-releases, remixes, projects and collaborations that numerous, we’d rather refer to his discography than weary you with namedropping. Besides, all those references would just distract from what truly matters – the music this guy is delivering. Not to underestimate the importance of a project such as Terranova for &ME’s current path, but still the alignment has been made – to focus consistently on his solo-work. And it shows.

There are not many artists around turning in such a slew of globally praised floormaterial like &ME did over the last years. Just think of his last offerings on Keinemusik, a collective of Berlin based DJs and producers, including Rampa, Adam Port, Reznik & artist Monja Gentschow, he helped founding in 2009, namely “After Dark” and “Woods” or his “Vermillion”-remix for Damian Lazarus – all serious bangers, played by every renowned DJ worldwide. Everything is falling into place for the fella. His DIY-approach to handle things, his easy going attitude, his reputation as a gifted producer and DJ extraordinaire, his ability to link innovative production with consensual reception, making him one of the most unique and original figures in the game.
