Andras & Oscar return with 'Temperature of Love', their first single since cult albums Embassy Cafe and Cafe Romantica almost a decade ago. 'Temperature' takes it back to the start; a 909, a microphone and an echo machine rolling along under Oscar Key Sung's improvised vocals. 

“Oscar and I rescued a knock-off 909 from a pawn-shop and shot back to our studio in Maldon. We wiped off the dust, plugged in a microphone and red-lined the digi-delay. What you hear is that raw recording - 4 mono channels of pure energy, a celebration of dancing, love and friendship.” - Andras

A small collection of music produced by or in association with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples. Lew and myself put this mix together in mid 2015 for our radio show on the community broadcaster 3RRR 102.7fm. 

We're hardly in a position to make commentary on the vastly diverse musical cultures that exist across the cities, towns and communities in Australia, but this seemed like a simple way to provide an alternative to the JJJ countdown. We encourage you to have a look and listen for yourself - you'll fine everything from desert reggae to 90s house, and stomping rock. 

Thanks and gratitude to all the musicians involved in these projects, both living and deceased; to C.A.A.M.A. for releasing almost half the songs on this mix, Incite Youth Arts (http://redsandculture.com/) for their excellent compilations, and resources like IndigiTube (http://www.indigitube.com.au/) for a chance to hear these fantastic artists. Thanks to Peter Mumme for providing a deeper understanding of the Waak Waak Jungi project (for which there is a reissue in development). 

The refusal to celebrate Australia Day is part of an ongoing fight for the recognition of first nations people's rights. If nothing else, we hope this mix can serves as an alternative soundtrack for a weekend that otherwise resounds with a the cannons, fireworks and bells of Australia's colonial history. If you are able bodied and free, I encourage you to attend one of the many rallys that will be taking place on the 26th January.

Cutting a path through an overgrowth of nostalgia around 70s acid folk and 90s acid house, Joyful is an invitation to till an old garden under a glistening new light.

A second small collection of music produced by or in association with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples. 

A few years ago, Lew and I made a 'change the date' mix for our RRR show. I find it mind boggling that we're still celebrating dispossession with a public holiday in 2021. Not to mention our Anthem, which just stinks - both words and music. 

As a so-called 'Australian DJ', I am always trying to find ways to incorporate more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music into DJ sets, radio, etc. I am hardly in a position to make commentary on the vastly diverse musical cultures that exist across the cities, towns and communities in Australia, but this again seemed like a simple way to provide an alternative soundtrack for a day that otherwise resounds with a dull, universalist rhetoric.
