LA PRISE DU CHÂTEAU, par Perez et Helena de Laurens

Nous marchons un peu dans les rues d’Hyères, sur les terrasses, certains boivent des cafés, d’autres de la bière, nous arrivons au pied d’une colline escarpée, c’est là haut me dit-elle, on commence à grimper.
Nous empruntons une route sinueuse jonchée d’arbustes suspendus dans le vide et nous élevons rapidement au dessus de la ville, la montée est rude et je peine à la suivre, elle doit avoir l’habitude, ou être très sportive. 
Quand nous arrivons au sommet, le soleil est presque couché, le château rougeoie, j’admire les créneaux qui ornent le toit.  Les invités sont déjà sur le parking.  
On se fraye un passage entre les berlines, elle me dit qu’on va entrer par les cuisines, qu’il faut m’habiller comme il se doit, sinon je ferai tâche et elle ne tient pas à ça. 
Elle me dit d’attendre dans la chambre froide, et quand je proteste, elle me dit : cesse
tes jérémiades!
Quand elle revient, je suis frigorifié, elle me tend un smoking dérobé au dressing de son père, que j’enfile en claquant des dents, j’abandonne mes vêtements. 
Elle craint que je ne sois pas au goût de ses parents, nous devons faire mine de ne pas nous connaître, c’est un peu loufoque mais j’accepte, je me mêle à la fête. 
Et j’observe cet intérieur… 
Les colonnes toscanes aux chapiteaux ouvragés, aux fûts lisses et cylindriques, les duchesses brisées aux tissus rembourrés, les balustrades intérieures aux formes oblongues, les fauteuils Louis XVI et leurs coussins qui bombent, la porcelaine Ming et les bustes antiques, les chandeliers à trois branches aux rondeurs apathiques. Une expression du chic, incurvée et polie, qui ne tolère ni les angles ni les plis. 
L’ambiance est feutrée, les tenues de soirées ne font pas dans l’excentricité mais un charme discret se dégage de cette désuétude sans âge.  
Puis soudain retentit une mélodie en provenance du parvis, les invités se ruent à l’extérieur, je suis le mouvement, elle en profite pour saisir ma main, nous nous éclipsons dans le parc, suivons un parcours de galets encadré par de grandes haies, nous sommes loin de l’orchestre désormais, je l’attire vers moi, elle me repousse, je n’arrive pas à décrypter l’expression de son visage, un sourire mordant qui n’a rien de sage, nous nous enlaçons maladroitement, nous tombons, nous abandonnant d’une étrange façon, mais déjà nous sommes interrompus, avant d’avoir pu percer le sens de notre étreinte, des pas résonnent dans les allées, on vient vers nous, il faut y aller. 
Alors on court, on court à toute vitesse, sans reprendre notre souffle, on rejoint l’arrière du château, là où nous ne devrions pas être vus, on emprunte un large couloir, et au bout de ce couloir il y a une porte sous un escalier en colimaçon, une petite porte en bois dont la peinture s’écaille, elle ouvre cette porte et me dit d’y entrer, elle m’emboîte le pas et nous enferme, nous plongeant dans le noir, elle passe devant moi, je sens le tissu de sa robe contre mes jambes, elle me prend la main à nouveau et nous descendons prudemment l’escalier qui mène à la cave.

Maceo Plex’s Ellum Audio rounds out the year with a fantastic two tracker from Scotland based producer Avenue.

Avenue is based on the East Coast of Scotland and was born Adrian Hossain. He has been immersed in music for 20 years, equally inspired by rock, soul and blues as he is disco, electro, techno, trance and rave. He had a busy 2020 releasing waves of new music and now lands on Ellum Audio with some brilliantly inventive new sounds and styles.

Opener ‘Ultraviolet’ is an excellently exuberant track with a party atmosphere thanks to the bristling drums and funky bass riffs. Layered over the top are epic melodic chords whilst some subtle vocal adds plenty of soul. Disco, techno and funk all collide in thrilling new ways on this most dynamic and original of tracks.

Then comes the brilliantly atmospheric ‘Infrared’, a darker, more pounding and heads down track. This is rolling techno funk run through with skewed synths that twist and contort endlessly while big hi hats and booming kicks power on into dark corners of the dancefloor. An epic breakdown builds further tension before the whole thing explodes to life once more.

This is a fine end to the year from Ellum Audio and a great statement from Avenue.

AVNU - Infrared

Andre VII is a Mexican electronic music producer, founder of the new electronic label "Platino Records". He also owns/books Bar Oriente and Xaman. He is also behind the curation of Sonar Mexico in CDMX.
An expert engineer of audio and production, In September of 2014, Andre VII presented his first official music  video for the single "Yo Soy", with pro- duction taking place in Mexico City thanks to THUMP Mexico (the electronic music arm of VICE), the video has more than 1.7 millions views.
Showing us the direction he is taking as a producer at this stage in his career. The EP includes remixes from Dj’s Pareja (Cómeme), Sanfuentes (Sanfuentes Records) and Sonido Fantasma (Turbo Recor-dings).
