With their first EP on Burlesque Musique, Funkbrainer & Kokenn seduce us into welcoming Summer. „L’ile“ is an island of harmonies and melodies, waves of synergic synths mount up to gigantic sound fountains. This island is colourful and playful, while „Desire“ draws us more into a melancholic and thoughtful atmosphere. On a solid bass construct, subdued bells ting in the distance while a more and more terse combination of synths build up an emphasis of an upbeat mood in the foreground.

As the dust only just begins to settle after the sensational release of Matthias Meyer's Watergate 20 installment, it's time to unleash the mixes' exclusive cuts. 

Kicking things off, Meyer delivers an enchanting ride with 'LA Strings', where whimsical pads rise and sweep as a hypnotizing bass line whirls endlessly across a landscape of earthy percussion. While still maintaining his trademark sound but taking a slightly deeper path, Meyer conjures up the super dreamy 'Uluwatu'. Settled firmly in rich organic percussion and lush melodies, 'Uluwatu' jaunts effortlessly through overgrown rain forests and lavish emotions. 

Next up is Gorje Hewek and Izhevski's 'Turgoyakk' and it's an absolute gem. Opulent pads, sensuous strings and powerful keys culminate in a profoundly vivid tour into truly emotional territory. Finally, YokoO & Retza deliver an impressive number with the dazzling 'Satori' which is laced with ornate keys and soft siren calls rounding up the release with timeless style. All tracks will be released together on one 12" vinyl and two separate EPs digitally.

Creative partnership Audiofly are the next to release on Crosstown Rebels with the show stopping ‘In The (Last) Moment’ featuring the angelic voice of Georgia Lewis. The release comes complete with a steadfast remix from Germany’s Robag Wruhme.

‘In the (Last) Moment’ sets the foundation with broken chuggy beats as intricate layers and grumbling pads unfold beneath the beautiful sounds of Georgia’s voice. Audiofly explain that, "sometimes it’s nice to not have to write the usual peak time bomb, with this one we followed our hearts and the vibe of young vocalist Georgia Lewis and what emerged was a sunrise moment."

With 13 years behind them Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito AKA Audiofly have established a creative empire, which includes two record labels and their Flying Circus global party brand, which celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year with a world tour. Working harder than ever, a second artist album is in the works following on from 2011 long-player ‘Follow My Liebe’.

Industry veteran Robag Wruhme has more recently had releases on the likes of Kompakt and Pampa Records. Here he makes an imprint on Crosstown Rebels with this epic remix that fuses elated synths and industrial elements over solid rolling percussion.

Facundo Mohrr, Valdovinos - November

Radiohead is a continuing inspiration for my music. Their melodies and rhythms are always original and often quite ‘eerie’ in sense. I saw them in 2017 live in Barcelona and it was the best live performance I’ve ever seen – by far. I wanted to remix one of their songs for a long time and decided to pick ‘Weirds Fishes / Arpeggi’ from their ‘In Rainbows’ album. The building arpeggio notes at the start of the song really fit well in a more electronic version. I first wanted to create a real peak time dance floor track, but it turned out to be a very stretched laid back deep house track. It included many more synths, melodies and other elements, but in the end I decided to just use a stripped down version as it would respect the original feelings of the song the best. Let me know what you think! I’m offering it as a free download so feel free to use it in your sets or other media.
