Commissioned by Sheona White and premiered by Sheona and the University of Salford Brass Band in 2013, Enter the Dance is a lively and virtuosic tenor horn solo. The piece was inspired by the stone circles of celtic legend, where unsuspecting passers-by would be enticed into a circle to join the "Lords and Ladies" of fairie folk-lore in their dance - never to be seen again. The dance-like outer sections frame a beautiful slow melody which requires good breath control and sensitive, lyrical phrasing.Available from www.yewdenmusic.com

Enter The Dance

A new virtuosic solo for tuned percussion with brass band accompaniment. Based on the traditional English folk song Scarborough Fair, the piece opens in a mysterious style with rolled marimba chords before opening out into a modern, up-beat solo that features a quick change from marimba to xylophone. With intricate band parts, virtuosic cadenzas and plenty for the other percussionists to do, this will be an enjoyable challenge for the whole band.
