Bucci Bag [2003 Classic / 10 Years Anniversary]

Born in June 26, 1974 in Italy, Andrea Doria, Dj, composer and sound designer, has a long history in the music industry, started at the age of 16 when he began to develop an insane passion for computers and programming. At the arrival of the first 8/16bit computer he started earning a living composing soundtracks for videogames for some Italian software companies (but not only) simply using the synth processors (SID/Commodore64) and language machine.

Since then Andrea’s artistic knowledge developed with a powerful influence of some eclectic artists from the seventies like Klaus Schulze, Richard Wahnfried, Chris and Cosey, Crash Course in Science and Edgar Frose. In the 90s he was completely blown away by the house scene and decided that DJing was going to become an important part of his career. He was fascinated by the way these “DJs alchemists” used to mix sounds and different cultures at the same time and created such a big interest in the booming Dance scene. Nowdays, Andrea uses the same philosophy to compose his Game and Movie scores, mixing together orchestral textures and electronic.

CAREER STEPS IN PILLS

* 1991: Andrea start Djing and producing fulltime under the nickname of “Mc Hair” and working for the most influential italian dance labels of that time like Ala Bianca, DFC (Dance Floor Corporation), Molto Recordings, Flying Records, UMM (Underground Music Movement).

* 1992/1999: Andrea was resident Dj in two of the most influential underground clubs both leading the entire progressive scene in Italy at that time: the memorable fridays of “Il Gatto & La Volpe”, in Ferrara, and the amazing saturdays of “Gheodrome”, in Rimini. In these seven years Andrea had the chance to express his Dj selection abilities and became very popular as “Mc Hair”.

* 2000: Andrea decides to move his production team with Alex D’Elia to London, and there almost immediately receives his very first Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune with the acclaimed trance anthem FLAT 6 “It’s Too Late”, released on Infusion UK.

* 2001: thanks to a long term collaboration with his friend Dino Lenny, Andrea participates to a long list of important productions including the highly acclaimed “I Feel Stereo”, co-signed with Prince, which has also been licensed to Deep Dish’s Yoshitoshi label and Incentive in the UK.

* 2002: Andrea starts, always with Dino, the Wu Tang Clan collaboration in Barbed Wire, and remixes for Inxs, Rob Dougan, Klea, Planet Funk, Art of Trance etc.

* 2003: Andrea and Dino has both enjoyed THREE successive Essential New Tunes from Pete Tong respectively with “Bucci Bag” and “Change The World” which later become a highly talked about collaboration with ex Housemartins singer Paul Heaton from The Beautiful South. And for the first time in history of BBC Radio One, “Change The World” was awarded by Pete Tong with TWO CONSECUTIVE “ESSENTIAL NEW TUNES”! In the same year, Bucci Bag, got awarded in Miami as the “WMC 2003 Record”.

* 2006: Andrea releases on Martin Eyrer’s label Kling Klong an electronic work called “Baby T.V EP”, raising immediately the interest of the most influential djs and producers, and moreover receiving proposal of collaboration by colleagues such Thomas Schumacher, Marc Romboy, Tommie Sunshine and Felix Da Houscat. In the same year Andrea officially remix Jaydee’s biggest anthem “Plastic Dreams”.

* 2007: Andrea releases a remix for Tobias Lützenkirchen on Blu Fin, “Freak Me”, which has become one of the most acclaimed anthem of the 2007. In the same year Andrea releases for Marc Romboy’s new imprint “eTools” an EP called “Never Mind” and “Yahoo!” for Great Stuff Recordings. Andrea and John Acquaviva join together to mix a compilation for the Electro Deluxe Series, the Vol. 4.

* 2008: Time for a big follow up of Freak Me. Andrea writes the music and arrangements for “Beauty Of Silence”, one of the most favourite records according to Dj Tiesto. Released on Blu Fin with Inpetto Remix, has conquered the 1° place in the Overall Beatport Chart for more than a month, giving to Andrea the chance to play @ Sunshine Live festivals (House Edition Area), @ Pacha club in Monaco, @ La Flèche D’Or in Paris and many other clubs around the world, including a complete tour in Russia and Ukrain. In this year Andrea compile for Blu Fin two compilations, the “Love Codes” series, today both available on Spotify.

Now after some years off the scene spent to “clean his ears”, musically speaking, and find his new self, he is back and reload…
