The Mermaid Song

One hour late evening a young man goes for a swim
He heads down to the water 
He wants to cool his temper with in
He has one foot behind him and he is not looking at the past
As his one foot steps forward into the water bath
As he steps in the water and he forgets his sins
He transends from this world to another world with in
He embraces this moment as he wakes to find his body in the lake

He swims by the fishes and he swims out to the reef
To leave everything behind and abandon his beliefs 
He floats down deep to the muddy stones
He sits there and listens as though he has headphones
He listens to the mermaids as they sing their songs
As they sing their blues, their woes, for a man to come along
He embraces the moment that they wake to find his body in the lake

And so it happens late that same night
He swims out to the lake and he forgets his own life
He forgets his worries and forgets his woes
He forgets his past and so the story goes
So sad but true, he forgets to breath
Evaporates down into the deep

But i know for certain he is not alone
I know those mermaids will keep his bones
For me.

Oyster Boy

The little oyster boy
He's sitting scared and coy
Sitting by the boiling line
Dreaming back over time
Dreaming of the fishes
His long time, long gone wishes
Of pearls that shine so brightly

So he sits reflecting

Sparkle juice in his soft eyes

The oyster boy is down, down

The Romance

I was talking to this one man
Quite a young man with a great tan
He just came back from Morocco 
Where he let go
Of his heart and soul
He was mumbling some strange sad words
About the bees and the birds
He sounded absurd
He was clearly disappointed 
Disillusioned and in conclusion
He said to me with a stern voice
And a daring glimpse 
How he felt since

A sudden romance and intense time
it blew his mind, it was of the kind
To make his pain drift away in the light of day
Where young hearts play

Bowed his head and said his name was Fred
That his heart was dead, that it was broken
Because
He met a boy named Roy on holiday
At a disco, dancing al fresco
Between the mass of sweat their eyes met
On the dance floor they were drawn for more
They kissed and kissed and kissed for hours
Feeling the powers of instant romance
In the days to come they threw themselves
Full force like hurricanes 
Like a love storm

Where young hearts twist
And give into the night
And heart beats are missed
In the thumping pumping flight

So i asked Fred why he was sad and feeling bad

The judge the ruled it was an act of need
Well whats wrong with our society 
when goldilocks she gets off Scot free

As morbid as this may sound
Dark thick blood soils the ground
Severed heads buried under earth
All in lines beneath the dirt
Tangled hair, crusted craniums

Into bleak black trees with branches of meat
Bearing the fruit from which we eat in

The Present

Performance artist, choreographer and singer-songwriter. A bit of a jack of all trades, i primarily create staged productions working with live-art, performance and choreography and secondary to that work with songwriting. I guess i am a self taught musician (even though musician is a term i rarely call myself) songwriting is and has always been natural to me. It arrives out of my impulse and desire to create sound/music to go with my words or poetry. I am very interested in the cross over of art forms and especially interested in experimentation and authenticity.  I am naturally drawn to raw, visceral and bare work and really have a passion for lyrics and poetry as core part towards the songwriting process.  I am very interested artistic dialogue and collaborations are always exciting so don't be shy, if you like some of the sounds you hear feel free to leave a remark or message. xx Andreas
