This is based on what I've learned from the organ works of the French avant-garde composer Messiaen -- who was once such a prisoner himself. This was more challenging than I had anticipated. My take on "music listening to itself" was to use my matrix mixer to have two loopers both to listen and record each other's loops in an endless feedback cycle. This required great restraint on my part, given that anything more than a few minimal inputs would result in a muddied wash in a few seconds. So this piece is basically made up of a couple of gentle taps on the Soma Terra, followed by some sustained notes from it and also the Buchla Music Easel, set to a very low volume. The result is a typical ambient drone, punctuated every now and then by some textures and bright accents. Not the most original by any means, but a good learning experience for me. Thanks again for making me challenge myself and learn how to use my equipment!
