This October the acclaimed Irish Singer and Songwriter John Spillane, celebrates 33 years of an ever-consistent vastly illuminating and exciting career within the world of music. And what better way to celebrate than with a brand new album. On October 17th 2014, his brand new 10th studio album, ‘THE MAN WHO CAME IN FROM THE DARK’ will be released followed by a list of tour dates Nationwide.

Having sold over 100,000 albums in Ireland, John has also been awarded with two Meteor Irish Music Awards for ‘Best Act Folk’ and ‘Traditional’ act. His songs have been covered by many Irish folk luminaries such as Christy Moore, Sean Keane, Karan Casey, Pauline Scanlon, Solas, Mary Black, Méav, Sinéad Lohan and Sharon Shannon.

Building on last year’s hugely popular album ‘LIFE IN AN IRISH TOWN’, which was based on songs from the TG4 series SPILLANE AN FÁNAÍ (Spillane The Wanderer), this year sees John traveling around Ireland and writing MORE BRILLIANT songs about Ireland's towns, rivers, legends and people. The album's release will coincide with the broadcast of Series 2 of SPILLANE AN FÁNAÍ weekly on TG4 from Tuesday 21st October for 6 weeks.

The Ballads of Child Migration is an album of brand new songs from Boo Hewerdine, Jez Lowe, John McCusker, O'Hooley & Tidow, Chris While & Julie Matthews, Coope Boyes & Simpson and John Doyle all inspired by the heart-breaking true stories of Britain's child migrants who were sent to Canada, Australia and Africa between 1869 and 1970. An estimated 100,000 British children were sent overseas by migration schemes, which were run by a partnership of charities, religious organisations and governments. The scheme claimed to offer boys and girls the opportunity of a better life in Britain's Empire. Many migrants never saw their homes or their families again.
