1st trance song I have ever made using Ableton Live v.12, after having studied the EDM course "Electronic Music Production with Ableton Live" at Udemy (https://www.udemy.com/course/electronic-music-production-with-ableton-live/?couponCode=CP251118G5). The instructor of the course, Simon Stokes, is excellent in explaining complex concepts in an accessible way giving you homework to quickly apply the theory. I have no commercial interest in promoting this course, I am just thrilled of having found a way of starting getting some of the music ideas out of my brain into reality!

A 2-track EP of infectious groove, the A side comes from Tim 2T, a budding producer from Lille who offers up one stonker of a track reminiscent of New York’s Sound Factory circa 1993. Perfectly epitomising the Mona Musique sound, ‘Rue 32’ was the most requested track ID on Nick V’s Boiler Room session earlier this year and firmly cements Tim as one to watch.

On the flip side is ‘Drifting Away’ from @Hugo-LX, Parisian Hip Hop beat maker who has recently turned his hand to House, to great effect, under the guidance of Mona Musique’s founder @NickV. Having already released on Chez Damier’s Courtesy of Balance this year, as well as production for Homeboy Sandman on Stones Throw, still to come is music on highly lauded label My Love Is Underground.

Mona Musique is the new imprint from Nick V, curator and resident DJ behind longstanding night Mona. Angelo Ferreri began producing tracks in the early noughties and has since formed two record labels and produced over 100 tracks. ‘Want To Say EP’ is his first release for the Miami-based Soulfuric family, a name that stands as one of the most renowned labels in house music. The three-track EP remains true to the record label’s soulful roots, moving through groove-laden jazz, disco and 90s influences, demonstrating the producer’s ability to create versatility with rounded feel-good vibes. The title track collides the worlds of 90s house with a real jazz influence, offering funky piano riffs behind a pumping beat. ‘I’m Talking To You’ has an up-tempo classic disco backdrop with a kicking bass and soul backing vocals.
