This handsome bloke with the the purple hair is Dylan Banks - he builds my Intonarumori, plays them like a genius and is now my percussionist/rhythm master in a new duo project titled (at the moment) Duet for Bass Guitar and a Huge Pile of Crap.  Amongst other projects /life we don't get to work on this regularly so are looking at a 2024 live debut, so this is an early taster. In a nutshell it was conceived when the two of us were standing in a beautiful performance space and  wondered what we would do in it if someone was kind enough to allow us the opportunity. It was quickly decided we should assemble an enormous pile of old car bodies, plant equipment, whatever which Dylan would play whilst I attempted to improvise some sort of bass work over the top... so far ... so good : )

Dylan and I picked up the threads of this improv project after a few months break to pursue other things. Since #1 post a year ago ( https://soundcloud.com/no-mates-ensemble/duet-for-bass-guitar-and-a-huge-pile-of-crap1) the project has expanded - sometimes we don't even use a huge pile of crap but just the physical architecture of where we are set up ( look out for duet for Bass guitar and an empty warehouse), sometimes its a mini pile of crap, sometime 'no input'.. anyway the vibes the same - make some stuff up : )

This (improvised) piano piece was intended to be a jazz piece, and indeed ended up being a jazz piece. However, other than settling on a genre, I had no idea where the piece was going...until, that is, the main theme appeared out of the blue at 0:30 (about 30 seconds into the piece).

Medusa

There is this forest in Japan, at the foothills of mount Fuji... it is also called "The Sea of Trees", where people have commited suicide and it's actually famous for this particular reason. Through my music I wanted to highlight the importance of life, the ultimate gift to be alive in this world...anyone that has suicidal thoughts pls, see a therapist asap!!! Try to see the beauty no matter what!! I hope you enjoy my walk in the Aokigahara forest :)
