Audio example of a #bitwig patch I created. The important characteristic of a #Kobol #Expander is its two VCOs with morphing waveshapes (i.e. analog #wavetable). I implemented this with two phase-shifted LFOs.

Testing two new Doepfer A-134-2 Dual Voltage Controlled Crossfaders. Simple, but essential modules. Track fully produced in the rack, no post-processing. Includes some glitches, but hey, it's analog...

Cotton Clouds

Trying to create a vintage feel with sine waves though Serge Waveshaper, AJH Synth Gemini 2412 and (notoriously noisy) Make Noise lowpass gates (Optomix, LxD) triggered by Make Noise Math envelopes.

Vintage Minor Cadence

Melodic pattern created by two Ladik step sequencers, Pamela's New Workout, a Doepfer logic module, Doepfer quantizer, Doepfer precision adder,  and a Doepfer sequential switch. Lots of waveshaping and wavefolding. I am not the filter type-of guy.

Step By Step

I am not a big friend of drones. But one just happened when testing new equipment (Tascam DR-100 mkIII, Doepfer Polyphonic MIDI Interface, and Doepfer Quad VC Mixer). To some degree also a study about how to creatively use the Doepfer polyphonic modules, which I like a lot.

Exploring a famous piece by Steve Reich. Sequenced by Frap Tool's Usta. Four sine wave oscillators only, in order to better hear the interaction of the fundamental frequencies of the basic pattern.

Soundcloud is my accoustic notebook: I don't post finished songs, but little bits and pieces, representing ideas and experiments.
Since 2017, I am using a modular synthesizer system (Eurorack) for its analogue qualities both sonically and conceptually (West Coast). In 2023, I started integrating analogue modular with digital modular (Bitwig). Musically, I am very much inspired by modern classical music of the 20th century, especially minimalism. At the same time, I have a soft spot for 80s synth pop and atonal ambient soundscapes.
