David Mendo can’t stop and won’t stop right now; after hoarding plaudits with his remix of Luca Lento’s ‘Poema’ and going nose to nose with Charles Ramirez for ‘No More’, he now locks horns with Madridista and Ibiza insider Danny Serrano for a pair of portly summer rumbles. Clarisse’s next pleasure principle and guarantee of perspiration is not the first time these two have got together either. 2008’s ‘Coconuts’ picked the lock on the pair’s future path of unremitting, tribally entwined, pump-the-bump grooves that have gone on to time sunrises and sunsets, from 2010’s gibbering funker ‘Yanara’, to ‘Poupea’ ushering in waves to lap at its feet in the same year, and the popping tech jabs of Clarisse release ‘Sugar on the Body’.

Toughened up by the kind of drivingly incessant bassline that sorts dancefloor athletes from weekend drivers, ‘The Bassement’ is a one-way ticket of tribalism pulling no punches, deep house weaponry with slow-burning fire in its belly. Though it’ll undoubtedly benefit from a bronzing come holiday season, you’ll be praying that the party heads South so that the cellar-as-steamroom is the place to be once needle meets wax.

The bottom end to ‘Truesoul’ may have more bounce and give more glass-clinking breathing space. But there’s no let up and no room for tip-toers and toe-tappers, as Serrano and Mendo have taken on the form of the most stylish of dungeon masters. As a criss-cross of vocal interventions from the player’s ball next door goad you into retaliation, it’s a second statement of staying power and modesty made much bigger; the bass remains something you’d baulk at down a dark alley, telling diet and diluted deep house to take a look at itself.

2014 is definitely Clarisse's year. Every EP released this year went very good positions for weeks to the Beatport's TOP100 TH and received stronger and stronger feedbacks from major DJs of the scene. Nice thank to strict A&R job we do at Clarisse, trying to have tracks solidely produced still groovy and sexy as we like them to send positive energy to parties goers to be sure they won't miss to dance when they hear them. Last release, Sheeta, remixed by Mendo, is already #8 in TOP100 TH on Beatport mid July and #40 on main one.

This time the mega mighty Oxia offers us a fantastic remix, he has the secret, of his grenoblois old buddy Kiko and newcomer Spencer K track named Rondo. Original is already strong but you can't miss to recognize Oxia's typical melodic style on which he added one of his 'infamous' rythmical groove that catapult the track to the stars.

Clarisse's 2014 has been nothing short of consistently impressive, their release roster enjoying regular, lengthy stays at Beatport lodge with plenty of positivity found on the pages of its guestbook, culminating in last release 'Sheeta', by Harvey & Hunzed and remixed by Mendo, making serious chart indentations. Owing to a tight grip of quality control guaranteeing solidity as well as integral sexiness of groove, its run of success is in safe hands when Kiko and Spencer K, the rulers of 'Rondo', visit Clarisse Canyon where deeper is always better.

Kiko is Christophe Dallaca, he of the Hot Banana and Signature by Kiko labels and with a release catalogue approaching close to twenty years long including cuts on International Deejay Gigolo and Global Underground. It's a collection almost as old as the emergent Kévin Brottes aka Spencer K aka Lift Butterfly, who resumes a partnership that turned everything to 'Gold' on last year's Balearic-to-basement frontrunner for Bla Bla Records, and the tech-n-tribal emissions of the 'Raw Gaz' EP on Bouq.

'Rondo', shaped by fervently snippy beats and percussion elongating into a tribal bumper, is one for putting drinks down and getting your glass-holding hands aloft...assuming you're prepared to have your ribs dug by what's an out and out bustle swinging a stopwatch at you. Got the juice? Can you take on the dramatic builds that sweep across, yet disappear back into the sun? A true dancefloor disciplinarian that by the same means could just easily bask in the middle of a Mardi Gras traffic jam.

The remix from fellow French force Oxia him and Kiko go way back from 95's Parametres draws on insistent bass, naggingly magnetic rhythms, percussive ping-pong, and a general air of discrete stylishness and funked up brawn that could undoubtedly keep moving through the week without even thinking about heading to bed. Like its predecessor, it's in a party mood but is as quick to shoot you daggers should you dare think about looking for the exit.

'Rise Of Angel' is the brand new single from Luciano, and the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album, due in 2013.  However, for the many thousands of dedicated music fans who have made the pilgrimage to Luciano's hugely successful parties this Summer in Ibiza (the weekly Ushuaia sessions and Vagabundos at Pacha), or the many Cadenza parties around Europe and North America, 'Rise Of Angel' has already become the signature tune and musical hi-light in Luciano's sets, making its release a highly anticipated moment for the Cadenza faithful.

Clocking in at over 15 minutes, 'Rise Of Angel' is an epic slice of modern electronic dance music, the simply Balearic, synth and piano driven hook gently builds and teases with cinematic intent, the light percussion and organic beats working the old Luciano magic, it's no wonder that 'Rise Of Angel' has become one of the most talked about tracks of the Ibiza season this year.

For the remixes, Luciano has kept it in the family, enlisting the duties of fellow Cadenza artists Mirko Loko, UNER and Andrea Oliva to all lend their unique production styles to a solid set of reinterpretations.  The vinyl 12" is coupled with Mirko Loko's pulsating robotic workout, adding a more beats driven take on Luciano's original, and delving into the bass for a heavyweight techno flecked remix.

And bolstering the digital package, UNER weighs in with a dubbed out, rolling drum version, using the vocal FX to support the groove whilst the pianos ride over the mix, and Andrea Oliva goes straight for the 4/4 jugular with a remix that builds solid tribal beats to a crescendo, adding a new dimension to the Original with a choice vocal section.

'Rise Of Angel' will be Luciano's first release on his own Cadenza label since 2010's Lucien-N-Luciano's 'Cuidad De Luz' EP, and marks the start of another big chapter in his career, having spent the last couple of years building a passionate audience through hundreds of DJ performances around the world, the Vagabundos events and collaborating musically with artists such as Pharrrell (Neptunes) and Lenny Kravitz.  His forthcoming album will be his second full length collection (following 2009's ‘Tribute To The Sun’), and his label, Cadenza Records, will celebrate its 10th anniversary, so the future certainly looks bright for the Chilean producer and DJ.

Maverick DJ/producer Riva Starr burst on to the house music scene in 2009, impressing a wide variety of fans with his cheeky productions and remixes which straddled genres, tempos and geographical inspirations. Now the man born Stefano Miele is pleased to announce the release of ‘Absence’, the first single from his forthcoming sophomore album ‘Hand in Hand’.

‘Absence’ shows off Riva Starr’s indie background and is probably his most mature work to date. Mixed by Ash Workmann of Metronomy fame, this quirky love song features vocals by ex-The Research singer Russell Searle. Initially drafted in with the sole intention of penning a few top-lines, his quirky infectious interpretation soon conquered all, and so RSSLL came to be.

The video for ‘Absence’ comes from Milan-based director Virgilio Villoresi, an award winning “artisan” filmmaker whose bizarre influences (from Polish animators to US underground arts) are clearly reflected in the intriguing final product.

Throughout 2012, Riva Starr graced venues such as Manchester’s Warehouse Project, Watergate (Berlin), ElRow (Barcelona) as well as hosting his “Snatch! Records” tent at Creamfields and Tomorrowland. Check him out on the 15th of February at a rare Fabric appearance.

With the release of ‘Hand In Hand’ this summer, 2013 is set to be an even bigger year for Riva – watch this space…
