According to Kepler's third law and the law of gravitation, the orbital speed of the stars would have to decrease with increasing distance from the galaxy center around which they rotate, since the visible matter is concentrated inside. However, measurements of the Doppler shift show that it remains constant or even increases. This suggests that there is mass there that is not visible in the form of stars, dust or gas - dark matter.

The newest offering on Suffused Music sees the label showcasing another one of the standout productions from its 'Initializing 2014' compilation which was released in January of this year. The collection gave fans a snapshot of what to expect from the label in the future and the track which had the honour of closing the compilation off came from Andrees and Yakoff in form of 'Suspense'. The Lithuanian duo have just 4 credits on their discography but their progressive breaks sound has already caught the attention of the electronic music underground. The defining moment in the young careers of Andrees and Yakoff came when they were announced as the winners of the Beatport / Timo Maas remix competition. The track 'College 84' which was not only produced by Timo Maas but also featured vocals from Placebo's Brian Molko was eventually released in late January of this year and was further proof that Andrees and Yakoff were two of the most promising breakbeat producers around. Now for the 38th release on Suffused Music the label is pleased to present the official single release for 'Suspense' along with 3 brand new remixes. The track's heavy beats and moody atmospheres proved to be a great piece to cap of 'Initializing' but it also sits quite well as a single. It's trippy sound design and meaty bass stabs should lay down a wicked vibe in any room and the ominous breakdown builds some worthy tension for a second half finale. It's a track that not only proves the breakbeat scene is alive and well but with a fresh complement of remixes from Advent's Rising, Digital Department and Dr. Avalance it looks to be one of Suffused Music's most unique and cutting edge releases to date. - Release Promo

Ewan Rill - Tower EP [Suffused Music, SMD160]

The latest release on Suffused Music finds the label revisiting Ewan Rill's 'Tower' for a set of remixes. Originally released in May of 2016 as part of the 'Tower' EP, the track showcased the Russian artist at his finest with a production that pushed the boundaries of conventional progressive house. Now as 2017 begins Suffused Music invites Paul Hamilton, Jiminy Hop and Andrees & Yakoff to reinvent the track for the new year. 

The first interpretation of 'Tower' is provided by Paul Hamilton who is making his first appearance on the Suffused Music. Perhaps best known for a string of bombs on Baroque Records all through 2016, the Dubai based artist gets 2017 off to a great with a sensational remix of 'Tower'. The drifting atmospherics from the original play heavily here but with a chugging, techy groove sitting at the foundation it comes across in a much different context. Paul's productions always have a keen nose for the dance floor and the tightly wound framework along with shimmering hats and dulcet motifs are nothing short of brilliant. Excellent remix from Paul. 

The second interpretation of 'Tower' is provided by Jiminy Hop who is making his second appearance on Suffused Music. The Russian artist first appeared on the Lithuanian imprint in October of 2016 with a contribution to the label's 'Initializing, Vol. 11' collection. Now kicking off the new year in style Jiminy takes 'Tower' into driving, percussive territory with great results. Backed by a strong rhythmic core and pulsating bass stabs the energy of the piece is apparent straight away. Smooth chord changes and a subtle acid line converge for the ultimate textural contrast, before the third act rises higher as layers of luminous synths bring you into goosebump territory. 

The third and final interpretation of 'Tower' is provided by Andrees & Yakoff who are making their eighth appearance on Suffused Music. The Lithuanian duo have been a core part of the label's roster since first appearing in early 2014 on the first ever 'Initializing' compilation. Now following a quiet 2016 the much loved duo begins the year with an excellent rendition of 'Tower'. Brooding, moody and a touch paranoid it's a subversive mix which hits a variety of emotions. A cavernous break only adds to its dramatic depth, stretching more than a minute before a gentle rush reignites the hypnotics for a mesmerizing finale. A top notch interpretation from Andrees & Yakoff which rounds out an excellent remix pack from Suffused Music to begin the new year.

As Suffused Music hits 2018 at full pace and a double century of releases under its belt, we celebrate with a brand new musical vignette through Erich LH and his three-track, “No Gravity” EP.

Hailing from the ancient and historical city of Córdoba in the foothills of the Sierra Chicas, Eric Ledesma has fashioned an impressive career for himself from his home in the north-centre of the country. With his Erich LH pseudonym, the Argentinean artist has consistently impressed, inspired and influenced by familial bonds and the sounds of the 1980s and 90s. Finding a passion within the sphere of electronic music, Ledesma refined his taste to focus on the areas of underground progressive.

An accomplished DJ, beguiling club goers with a compelling blend of sounds from progressive and tech house to techno and deep vibes, Erich LH has found himself performing at a raft of underground events around his home country including, El Castillo, Green Paradise and Bahia Los Mimbres. In tandem, a production career has flourished with a clutch of releases on an array of high-profile imprints. Making his 2010 debut on Distants Records with the “Rain” EP, further original work has followed for OLD SQL, Panda and Deepsessions Recordings.

Now returning to Suffused Music after the debut ‘Space Odyssey” appeared as part of the “Initializing, Vol. 12” compilation, the track now receives a full release of its own accompanied by two further original works. Retaining all the rhythmic flare of its initial release, “Space Odyssey” floats across its eight-minute voyage with its ethereal pads and timeless riff. Driven by thumping kick, hypnotic percussion and vocal sample, the Erich LH production craft and technique is in full flight.

“Cyborg” continues the heavy kick and driving percussion of its predecessor, while a running arpeggio line adds further intensity and dynamism, combined with trademark earworm riff. Pausing at a stripped back breakdown to create a wonderful crystalline sequence that hypnotises and pitches in analogue glory, a third movement joins a collage of rhythm and melodic flow in synchronous harmony.

Final track, “Stars” creates a slightly darker, edgier tone that is apposite for the wide-open infinity that sits alongside the track’s subject matter. Finding a wonderful chord and bass progression at its core, a cluster of free-flowing synth lines and rhythmic stabs create a vital energy that fires post-breakdown with renewed energy as hints of musical tropes to come are presented with shimmering and delayed synth work. The result is a club stormer that is sure to fill dance floors across the globe.

With all the weightless majesty of an artist harnessing the powers within his musical compass, Erich LH has become master of the universe with his “No Gravity” EP.

Volkan Erman - The Journey EP [Suffused Music, SMD217]

The 217th release on Suffused Music welcomes Volkan Erman back to the label for a brand new EP. The Turkish born, Italy based artist last appeared on the Lithuanian imprint in November of 2017 with a remix of 'Believe By Two Hemispheres' by GBrown. Now following releases on BC2 and Morninglory Music, Volkan returns to Suffused with 'The Journey' EP.

The three track journey begins with the deep, rolling grooves of 'Exit'. Once again expanding the boundaries of his progressive house roots Volkan crafts a deep and sophisticated seven minute trip. Built around subtle shades and tones, it's a one minute interlude which shifts energy into tranquil yet compelling territory before a muted kick builds anticipated towards a glowing finale.

The EP's second selection 'Lonely' builds on the meditative narrative with another smooth yet punchy foundation and meandering chimes. It's glistening beauty cannot be overstated and a darker, squelchy break just adds the perfect contrast, ultimately setting up a groovy, dubbed out third act.

The release concludes with the title selection and also the most progressive oriented of the three 'The Journey'. Anchored by a well sculpted, driving groove there's a ball of infectious energy from the beginning. Dark stabs pierce the air as gaseous effects and haunting atmospheres lead to a poignant break. A delicate main theme then shifts the narrative into something reflective and poignant before melting down into darkness once more. A massive track to round out another exceptional collection of music from Volkan. Don't miss it.
