The 97th edition of Juicebox Radio welcomes Randle Galea from the island of Malta. Currently situated in Vittoriosa, Randle was already inspired by his own hometown's underground clubbing scene and started DJing at the age of 17. Having performed at the most renowned clubs on the island, Randle has shared line-ups with DJ Ruby, Guy Mantzur, Tube & Berger, just to name a few. Quite affected by the intricate melodies and harmonies of progressive house, Randle's releases can be seen on Droid9, Another Life, OLD SQL and many more. Randle also runs a podcast entitled 'ABYSS' - featuring some of the best artists and DJs in the deep and progressive space and also 'Shifting Sands' - his own series of monthly mixes deeply rooted in melodies, grooves and an elegantly constructed harmony. We're really glad to host Randle on our show for an exclusive one hour set. Enjoy!

Tash's Movement Recordings opens the new year by welcoming Weird Sounding Dude back to the label for his debut EP. As one of India's rising musical mavericks, Weird Sounding Dude has emerged from his country's electronic landscape as a premiere progressive house talent. Long a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc, the Bangalore resident often touches on disparate themes and sounds, straddling the divide between intergalactic design and groove-centric hypnotism. With a career that now spans a decade, Weird Sounding Dude has compiled an impressive discography with standout releases via Anjunadeep, Hoomidaas, The Soundgarden and Sudbeat Music. Movement Recordings has also been a landing spot for the scene veteran, with a contribution to the label's 'GLBLMVMT3 - Exploring India' collection marking his debut in 2020, a project which would lead to a 2021 remix of Not Demure's 'Aifos'. Now, as 2023 begins to take shape, Weird Sounding Dude returns to Movement Recordings with a two-track showcase entitled 'Fallen Poet'.

The title selection finds Weird Sounding Dude composing with a strong sense of rhythm and groove. Beginning with a smooth pulse, its smoky resonance eventually reveals a backbone of monolithic beats and thunderous bass stabs. Instantly seductive, it's this muscular framework which provides the vehicle for panoramic textures and dissonant synth blasts to work their magic, ultimately resulting in a resounding dance floor escapade.

Meanwhile, the companion piece 'Lost Ark' lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship, as Weird Sounding Dude reaffirms his ability to tip a dancefloor over the edge. Mountainous grooves and clever rhythmic co-actions underpin a fascinating blend of striking chord stabs, balmy atmospherics and muted piano's, the latter of which provides a heartfelt interlude, before confidently returning to the groove for a heads down finale.

EMPHI Hallway Seven

On this day, nine years ago, my Dad passed away. He had been living with a brain tumour for eight years and also had two heart attacks while being sick with cancer. I was only 16 years old by then and I didn't get the chance to tell him my achievements in life. I would love to tell him that my music goes very well and that thousands of people are listening worldwide. He was my biggest supporter in life and ever since he passed away I always wanted to make a tribute song for him. To cheer all the good memories but also for me to express myself through musical feelings. 
When I made this track, all the memories from my childhood played over and over again in my head and it has been an emotional roller coaster everytime I've been sitting down with this project. Now, it's finally finished and I hope this track can revive memories of a passed loved one for you as well. Or maybe just a beautiful memory that you will remember for the rest of your life.
This track will be downloadable through Bandcamp and all the royalties will go straight to the Swedish cancer society. 
I love you forever Dad.
