UNIVERSAL LOVE (DUB-WISE) MIXED BY DUB SCIENTIST

Despite what many think, Rastas actually condemn the use of marijuana simply to get high. Instead, it is usually used within religious ceremonies in a highly ritualised manner in order to enhance feelings of unity and help generate visions of a spiritual and soothing nature. Rastafari “reasoning sessions” are religious meetings that involve group meditation, and marijuana is used to help the follower go into a trance-like state. The marijuana is usually smoked in a pipe (or “chalice”) and a short prayer is always recited before it is smoked:

“Glory be to the father and to the maker of creation. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be World without end.”

Reasoning sessions are very important religious rituals for Rastas – it’s a time for them to come together to debate living according to the Rastafari outlook. The effects of smoking marijuana allow the user to reach a sort of “cosmic consciousness,” a state where they become closer to “Jah” (God) and can see the truth of the world more clearly.

Recently I met an interesting musician – singer Andreia Dacal from Brazil. After long discussions with her I felt the Northern American readership would be interested in hearing about this new age thinking artist.  What is most intriguing about her besides the new age reggae music she writes and performs is how involved she is with helping to evolve the consciousness of her supporters and fans.

 Relationship with the Fans

Andreia said “her relationship with the fans is one of a partnership and friendship. As her supporters still do not count on, producers or entrepreneurs, rather it comes from citizens who are interested and desire to listen to her music.  Who want to help find concerts for her and this makes all the difference in obtaining opportunities to play. She relies on partners, including the fans who for her are great friends and supporters.”

Her feeling is that without the internet she cannot imagine how it would be possible to find the concerts and producers that would promote her music. Her music and singing has its strength in connections from the Internet. Since the beginning of using the internet, she talked, exchanged information, absorbed knowledge, learned and experienced new potentials, shared thoughts, and aspirations, with many new contacts. Through the Internet she has the possibility of planting seeds and let them fly across the world landing in locations that want to hear her play.

Without borders and limits 

Her music is the fruit of that era without borders, without limits, she saw the Internet as an option at that allowed her to learn about new opportunities, and decided she would learn how to use it wisely. As with her music she felt knowing the internet would help her create good connections between humans around the world, sincere, affectionate and with revolutionary ideas that she can then express in her music which fits perfectly with the creator of Reggae the great Bob Marley.

Upcoming concerts

Since the internet has become an excellent method for artist to present their work around the world Andreia has been diligent at finding new locations where she can play.  An example is finding a couple of possible concerts in the US in 2011.  In April for Quicksliver’s birthday party in Los Angeles, CA.  Additionally, there is a chance she will be playing at club Wild Hare Music in Chicago, IL web address www.wildharemusic.com.

The next concerts schedule are in Brazil, they are a group of concerts to promote the album "Affirmative," the coast of Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro). In Brazil for 2011 season, she is playing in the festival “Respect for life” (R4life), which is designed to bring awareness to music, culture and sustainability, (http://www.r4forlife.net) the concert setting is in Balneário Camburiú, which is in the southern coast of Brazil. The festival will feature national and international attractions consisting of a 4-day event, including concerts, workshops, craft fair, and a place for like minded people to gather from around the world to commune around peace, love and music.  One of possibilidads is in April at the birthday party of Quiksilver, the art director of brand talked to me and made the informal invitation, we are in communication, he is Brazilian, we have a meeting in December, when it comes to Rio on vacation.  New Music Culture

Andrea feels she is a part of the new music culture that merges all the information it has absorbed, recycles it and creates something her own way. Developing music from scratch, with a contemporary urban language, it has something to give back from the depths of her heart. She sees music as a universal language, where all differences are mixed, blended and harmonized so strong that it removes the chaotic nature that often vibrates in our daily living.  This living essence of life is creating and building a living consciousness of open communication and possibilities for everyone and anyone willing to listen.

Andreia is the blossoming fruit of this urban culture, cosmopolitan in her daily reality, but with the commitment to seek and recover her identity and connection to an essence more natural, organic, and responsible.  Without ceasing to be authentic, unique, personal, with all people and a source to help everyone listening to feel this reality through her music. She translates this experience so intensely in her words and sounds presented in her music, by her virtue and personality. 

Touring Europe and Morocco

In 2010 she was on a tour through Europe and Morocco.  It started in Paris France 2/7/10 at the Green Room with Rafiralfro next 3/7/10 at Blauwekater in Leuven, Belguim with Rafiralfro then 6/7/10 at Zenzile at Compiegne, France with Pitbull The Sexydog and 7/7/10 at Les RMLL 2010 Talence, France with Rafiralfro and Huggo pieR and to close out the tour at Sun Festival in Marrakesh, Morocco with Hugo pier.
