My entry for The Allegorist-Desired Changes-Remix Competition on Metapop 2021. Since Metapop is closing end of April 2023, I upload my remix here.

My text on Metapop:
"It was a lot of fun. Thank you very much for your great tracks and this great opportunity, Anna! 
It quickly became clear to me what it was going to be: picking up on the groove part of the second part with the aim of making it really take off.
To start with, I took 2 tones from the "weird vocals", built a loop out of them and sometimes added additional harmony tones. I proceeded in a similar way with the noise track: removed a small part, looped and sidechained against the kick so that it breathes and pulsates. Conga track also taken a little and transformed into a new loop.
For the bass I took over the four-note descending bass line, stretched it twice and added a secondary note to the last note. The rest was done by itself: the phenomenal vocals (3voices) float above my straight beat at 130 bpm. The I added in-house acid line, own lead sounds, a small ascending piano motif - that's about it :)"

A few words to the complete mix version: The two tracks, which I had chosen as intro and outro to my otherwise more toe-tapping drum & bass mix, not only provide the framework for the mix, but also give it its name and, I hope, make it feel like a story told with music.
Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner had worked in a project with homeless youths in London and published a photo and music project with them called "Night Jam". In their lyrics, which I found very touching, the young MCs tell of their experiences and feelings on the streets at night.

The rest of the mix - hopefully - speaks for itself. Sometimes I took the liberty of layering tracks - exclusively - on top of each other: the two minimalist tracks by Mark System - The Earth and Body Model - Test Pilot offered themselves, as to my ears the newcomer duo Body Pilot have let themselves be inspired by System. Or ASC - Starkwood + DJ Zinc - Hear No Evil. As a third and fourth layer - at some points simultaneously - Paradox - Toprock and Deba & Paradox - Swirl.

Juhuu! Endlich gibt es mein erstes komplettes Disco und Darkdiso Set. Dank Femquency habe ich entdeckt, dass ich eine ziemlich große und mir bislang unentdeckte Liebe gegenüber diesem Gengre habe. Das Set entstand in Vorbereitung für das begleitete Auflegen des Femquency Workshops. Wer sich gedanklich nochmal in die 37 Grad des Feel Festivals  reinfühlen mag, kann gerne diese Aufnahme von mir hören. Yay! Finally there is my first complete disco and dark diso set. Thanks to Femquency I discovered that I have a pretty big and so far undiscovered love towards this gengre. The set was created in preparation for the accompanied DJing of the Femquency workshop. If you'd like to get a mental refresher on the 37 degrees of the Feel Festival, feel free to listen to this recording of mine. It’s drum and bass this week and helping me Draw The Line with her guest mix in the 2nd hour it’s Marie Wilhelmine Anders who’s based in Berlin. In 2005 she began producing her own music using. Between 2018 & 2021 she released 4 albums incorporating the words of the Scottish poet, Robert Louis Stevenson, influenced by techno, electronica and ambient music. She has recently developed a love for drum and bass and her new album was mastered by DnB producer Sunchase and will be released by Broque. The mix you’re about to hear is also drum and bass and Marie has entitled it ‘Sleepless Night’.

Helping me Draw The Line this week it’s Djane Amaya, a young Techno DJ / Producer who’s based in London. Her father used to own a record store and she grew up surrounded by techno music. She started DJ-ing about a year ago and has also set up a small recording studio to produce her own tracks, several of which have been released by Nextseven Records. Her DJ style is Driving and Peak Time Techno and she hopes she can bring her sound to a club in London and, judging by the mix she’s done for us, it won’t be long before that happens!!
