Recondite marks his return to Hotflush with the epic, potentially summer-defining 'Caldera' and a sequel to his 2012 hit 'DRGN'. The Bavarian artist has undergone a dazzling rise since that time, and one which is reflected in the increasing opulence of his music.

'Caldera', with its dramatic arpeggios and crescendos, is unabashed big-field decadence. Bearing all the hallmarks on which he's made his name - space, subtlety, build, attention to timbre - over the course of 9 minutes it raises the temperature to white heat. 'DRGN 2' picks up exactly where its 2012 namesake left off; that is, with an arching melody played out over droning tones of insidious intent. Dark, imposing and elegant - this is Recondite at his most wicked.

It's that blessed time of year when the chill in the air starts to become a little less evident and, from next week at least, it'll actually light when you leave the office after the daily grind. Yep, the hold of winter is easing off and thankfully that means that the season of extended bank holiday weekends will soon be upon us. The first is just a matter of weeks away and we have an extra special blow out planned with Carl Cox and Jon Rundell’s impeccable (and pretty much institutional) techno platform, Intec, set to take over both Rooms One and Two this Easter Thursday. 

Even though the allocation of advance tickets have sold out, please be assured that there will be plenty of tickets available to purchases on the door on the night - we only sell 50% of our capacity in advance.

And to entice you to out to Farringdon to start you Easter celebrations we’re running a series of promo mixes from Intec artists to build internet anticipation. First up was Marco Bailey (which you can also check out on our channel here) showing us his beat driven sound and today we're ready to present a four four work out from Monika Kruse who brings her own element of funk into the mix, expertly crafting the energy levels into an engaging 75 minute mix, drawing on her 25 rich years of experience working the dance floor.

BNJMN - Rattled

Well we've got Style(s), miles and miles; so much Style(s) that it's wasted. Okay, the Pavement pun doesn't really apply here – nothing's wasted when it comes to Styles Upon Styles (@ susrecords), one of the best around pushing NY's hardware scene + community forward. This one, the first available cut from Certain Creatures (@ certain-creatures)' forthcoming LP, is custom-fit for anything but grotty basements. "An Allegory..." is a beautiful sketch with traces of rainforest exotica, but not exactly suggesting serenity – the nature samples get worked into the rhythm, creating an atmospheric backdrop to get lost within. Certain Creatures indeed.

Vipassana is out via SUS on October 30th.

Al-Shark is a banging Arab Farfisa excursion played frantically on an analog techno rhythm section. It's the first release from the Fortuna camp which is not a reissue, but worry not, this could easily be an ancient Lebanese proto-House experiment unearthed from a dusty reel.For the B-side Kalbata takes things even further with a tribal relick of the original, placing us in a voodoo ceremony where ghosts of sinners come to dance. Already on heavy rotation by Gilles Peterson and Acid Arab, this anthemic 12 is not to be missed! Limited vinyl!

Kalbata - Al Shark (FTN007 - A)

One thing that's got us really excited it the chance of new Ray Kajioka material and to really get us in the mood, the label will release a remix EP of three yet-to-be released tracks this month.

The 'Consistency' Remix EP is an exercise in cold, steely techno and there are edits from The Persuader, Rolando and Laux himself. We've got the premiere of The Persuader's remix and Jesper Dahlbäck has once again adopted his genre-hopping alias for the occasion.

His remix of 'The Rachet' is a devilish workout, one that pulsates from the ge- go with demonic synths and vibrating basslines. It's an excellent remix and one that's going to whet your appetite for some new Kajioka magic.
