Yeaahh proddin much now? This is sick for a first upload

The 2022 Edition was a special one for me, full of mixed feelings and not really in my best mental state. As soon as I was up there and got in the groove I looked up and saw all the smiles and for a moment I forgot all the bad stuff and went for the ride.
So this is my little gift to you all.

Immense thanks for all your kind words received during the festival. Before and after my set. I live for moments like this and to celebrate music in such environments with the best crowds possible.
Small, simple, good music, good people. Thats all I need.

Also thanks for continually supporting Parallel Festival. I have big plans for the future which I hope to make possible.

DJ Pointless sounds like a moniker commenting on the intransient, futile nature of fun, specifically the kind that involves USBs and jog wheels, in the face of the ever-beckoning void of death and nothingness that’s coming for you and everyone you’ve ever loved. 

But actually it’s the musical alter ego of Pointless Illustrations, our fave designer who makes FM look so good –  so actually it’s just a play on the futility of illustration. Cheer up guys, it’s a party and DJ Pointless is bringing his Handy Records for a takeover on Friday night in Laika. 

Retromigration is Pointless' bff, label mate  and flatmate so is also Amsterdam-based, but with releases on the likes of Wolf Music (as well as Handy, obvs) he treds a groovier, funkier path, drawing comparison to the likes of Kerry Chandler and Folamour. He can lend his hand house to techno, jersey, you name it. His recent Boiler Room at Polifinic in Italy was absolute fire, keep an eye for when it’s uploaded. 

DJ Pointless put together this mix together for us "Showcasing new  tracks from my label Handy as well as the new imprint Natural Frequencies and some unreleased bits from friends. A blend of new and old 90s tech house and trance infused business."

Lychee (@lycheefrut) is a DJ, writer and event organiser, originally from Boston and now based in Brooklyn. They run Spontaneous Affinity (@spontaneousaffinity), one of the rare mailouts I will support (just kidding, there's room for everyone!). It's not just a mailout, it's an interview and mix series that really gets to grips with the artists involved. As the website states, these interviews are "focused on how featured artists have been shaped by the dancefloors they inhabit and how they're actively shaping the spaces they'd like to see". The mailout also features links to interviews, mixes and shows around the world. They also put together a seriously high-quality zine to mark the first year of its existence.

As for Lychee's own skills, the first mix of theirs I ever included in my own mail was a deep and heady mix that featured peak-time rushers and trancey, spacey numbers. The mix they've provided for Bandcloud isn't quite like that. I asked them if they'd like to do an end-of-summer mix, "with shades of red and orange". It's a range of moods, going from the bass-heavy machinations of Bristolian techno to acid-drenched electro awash with crunchy hi-hats. Breaks-leaning rave sounds meet rushy techno, only to ease back into brighter territory. This push and pull makes for an intriguing finale — rather than building towards a dizzying climax, Lychee allows things to settle with comfort and ease. It's a brave move that's welcome in how unexpected it is.
