Andrene Lewis - THE REASON

 ANDRENE’S BIOGRAPHY

Andrene Kedion Lewis was born in the tranquil district of Jericho Linstead St. Catherine. She was raised by mother Pauline Darby, a godly woman who ensured that she was present at church almost every Sunday. Though frequent in her visit to church, Andrene then realized that it wasn’t enough for her to gain the crown of life, hence she gave her heart, body and soul to the Lord at age twelve (12) in January 1999 and is still walking with the cross.

Andrene discovered her gifts as singer and songwriter not long after her conversion, as it was at that very age she wrote her first song “He Gives Me Peace”. Fitting title for a new convert huh? While attending the Bogwalk High School she became a member of the school’s choir and sang regularly at devotions and concerts. She was also a frequent contestant at talent shows put on by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

As the days, weeks, months and years went by, Lewis held on to Christ and the faith she has in the music. Early in 2005 she met Gareth Hamm of Lighthouse Records whose guidance made her a more confident performer. Andrene moved on from Lighthouse and is presently an independent artiste. She has performed in the Caribbean and locally in shows such as: Ewarton Jerk Festival, Recharge, Back to Basic and other concerts. She has shared stage with international artiste Emrand Henry, Joseph Niles and Prodigal Son along with Dj Nicholas, Ryan Mark, Shepherd, Jason Mighty, Kevin Downswell, Jermaine Edwards, Kerron Ennis, Sandra Brooks, Joan Flemmings and Jcee. Andrene has also shared stage with secular artistes: Chuck Fender, Christopher Martin, Busy Signal, QQ Fab Five etc. ministering in songs.

Lewis has recorded songs viz “Crying” which features Shepherd, “Hold On” featuring Kevin Downswell, “He’s Everything I Need” and soon to be released, “Why Do You Cry” and “You Found Me.”

Andrene’s philosophy is: as long as there is breath, there is hope and Jesus being the captain of her life, the sky is the limit for her.
