Departures is such an appropriate title for this EP, as not only is this a departure from what many have come to expect from André but also these songs really take you on a journey that is a departure from your daily concerns. 

When I was asked to do a painting for the cover, I wanted to capture the idea that the song has always been playing & always will be playing, and we just happen to be catching a small sliver of it. I hope when viewing the art that it takes you closer to the music, not further away.

The songs are a mix of sonic bliss & melancholy, with very memorable melodies. 

Don’t be surprised if “Departures” brings you right back to your center.

the transcendence of the ego

with nostalgic feelings i am picking back up the dreamscapes series after a 14 year hiatus. historically, it has been a pure trance series, but now will include all progressive sounds throughout the house and trance spectrum. mostly new tracks with a few golden oldies from my late naughties rave era.

competitive and ultra-endurance cycling has been my main focus for the past few years, and progressive house and trance are almost always the sonic fuel to that fire, so this return has been a brewing idea for some time.

If I could name one mix that made me fully plunge into the world of minimal house and techno, this is it. 

Ron Costa has since removed this from his profile, so I have taken liberty to post it myself. It's a beautiful journey and one I've listened to and been inspired by countless times...

After I heard this mix in January 2012 I focused all my time and energy into this style, and 6 months later in June 2012 I became part of the P.U.N.C.H.I.S. Records family. Here I am 5 years later, P.U.N.C.H.I.S. going strong for 7+ years, and still pushing the limits :)

Ron Costa Mix January 2012

10 years ago, on April 29, 2007 at the Ogden Theatre, DJ Shadow changed the direction of my entire life. After his performance, I sold my car to buy dj gear, took a break from college to devote myself to the craft, and by early '08 I was performing at local bars in Boulder, Colorado. Never before had I been so inspired to change my life and passionately follow a path. I owe so much to this man, his music, and the words he spoke to me on that night.

I don't usually record my late night, on-the-fly, "sleepy sessions" on FB live, but last night I did and I enjoyed the result. Pushed record a little late in the mix, but here's a segment of the session, bouncing back between vinyl and digital, with a couple Shadow tracks sprinkled in with some other random trip hop, etc. Enjoy!

This is a special DJ set I curated and performed for my beloved sister, Georgia Grace, at her memorial/celebration of life on June 1, 2019, at L’Hostaria in Aspen, Colorado. She left this world too early, but her memory and spirit live on in me and everyone she touched.

I spent a few nights digging through my collection and selecting songs that I felt reflected her energy. I feel that she helped me make this journey, track by track, just like I felt with my mother’s mix.

It begins with a beautiful piano track by Ed Carlsen that I was playing a lot leading up to and during her passing. It continues with elements of ambient, dub, house, and progressive.

Thank you to everyone who made her memorial so special. We miss you, GG <3
