Inspired by the iconic tradition of the sample pack, the Source Folder series seeks to explore the diversity of interpretations, paths and offsprings that might emerge from a common resource. In each installment, a member of the Global URL Nation provides a sample pack from which other artists are invited to create a new track. 

To initiate the series, we are honored to welcome SNKLS, a French producer blending rich sound designs, intricate drum patterns and synthetic curiosities into unique entities at the crossroads of genres and labels. 

For his participation, he curated not one, but two packs of sounds, made from a selection of Eurorack modules such as Rings, Morphagene or DPO, providing a set of tools, materials and supplies for others to appropriate, upcycle, reuse and combine in order to create their own item. 

The 127 Pack edition gathers artists César Ch, Cosmic Caz, EURROPE, King Demitri, Lukann, migu, T.U., VIO_L3T, & xato. From soothing soundscapes to ominous saturated hits, the different tracks draw the contours of a peculiar environment, a garden of synthetic singularities and beauties to be observed, appreciated and get lost into.

"Séance d'auto-hypnose " was an introduction in the universe of Andres Komatsu, Chilean dj and producer living in Paris and regular visitor of mystic ceremonies, secret brotherhoods and satanic rites...

2 years after having make this mixtape, it's a pleasure again to share this slowchuggyelectronica mix music. 

That seemed to me "hard-hitting". Thank's to @Comeme to have given me the opportunity to realize this.

Shayu's most recent project is a video collaboration with Hee Eun Jeong, a contemporary dancer who studied at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). The two originally met in 2015, at the Korean University of National Arts in Seoul, whilst on an exchange program. They reconvened this year to collaborate on a project when Shayu made a stop-over in Seoul as part of her Asia tour. The result is a video entitled 'Hee 19' featuring Hee Eun Jeong, soundtracked by Shayu's "Euljiro", an ambient-leaning piece that utilizes vocal layering to create a hypnotic atmosphere. In the video, Hee Eun is featured dancing in a brightly coloured outfit (provided by local Korean fashion label Ajobyajo) on a rooftop in Seoul, her organic movements mirroring the ebbs and flows of Shayu's production. The camera follows Hee Eun as she moves through city streets, dancing in her own world as businessmen obliviously pass by. Listen to the full length piece and watch the video on youtube.

Dans Montpellier, Töfie guidée par les circonstances de ses rencontres avec des artistes issus de la scène alternative franco-belge dresse une carte de la création souterraine en rebaptisant leurs titres d’après la ville qui les a vu naître.

Après l'électronica tantôt douce ou tranchante d'un premier opus, "Powers of Ten" (2015), qui déjà surprenait par sa production étoffée dans le giron du très lo-fi et inventif label montpelliérain Linge Records, Tofië durcissait le son depuis les entrailles de la Terre avec un "From Earth" (2018) aux beats massifs et aux productions granuleuses, plus sombre et tellurique, entre synthwave, trip-hop sismique et réminiscences industrielles.

Le point commun entre ces deux albums à l'univers très personnel, à la fois stratosphérique et caverneux, futuriste et tribal, pop et aventureux ? La voix, élément central dont les circonvolutions décomplexées explorent les sonorités de plusieurs langues, du Français à l'Anglais en passant par l'Allemand et même l'Islandais, symbole d'une fascination auquel rend hommage en 2019 l'EP Seasick enregistré avec Dubix, ami beatmaker rencontré en ces terres de feu et de glace.

Aussi chamanique qu'éthéré, le chant de la musicienne, son instrument originel qui la poussera en 2012 sur la voie de l’instrumentation et de la production pour en développer l'écosystème mi analogique mi digital, n'est pas pour peu de chose dans la dimension organique et à fleur de peau que revêtent ces ambivalentes fééries du caveau, déjà comparées à Fever Ray, Gary Numan ou Anne Clark. Mais c'est avant tout par la maturité de ses compositions métamorphes annonçant bien des pérégrinations soniques que Töfie magnétise l'auditeur sur disque comme sur scène."

CLMxGUN is happy to present Chain of Whispers, a two-fold EP exploring further collaborative production processes. Like a murmur in the wind, a secret being delivered from ear to ear, it is born from a playful approach to sound manipulation and its transformation when passed from one hand to another. An embodiment of how music can be altered by each and every contribution.

Through a defined set of constraints based on the Telephone game, the concept is simple : each successive track is a remix of the previous one, and the contributors could not hear what was done before them. So on and so forth. A continuous cycle of appropriation and re-interpretation.

From this experiment resulted two 7-track EPs, two chains which gathered 11 artists, each with their own identity and their own input. With each new link in the chain, the sound mutates, speeds up or slows down - some of its elements are exacerbated, while others are concealed or juxtaposed to new ones. 

The first chain welcomes Désiré, HeedLess, indigoblue, Lithe, migu, and SNKLS. It starts from soothing bells and angelic voices to end up with rhythmic patterns and sharp impacts. A journey through a collective world with its own soundscapes and wonders.
