For the Tiny Desk Contest, we wanted to perform a Conversation; a melodic interaction improvised with twists and turns, imperfections, authenticity and moments of transcendence.

Through our music, we strive to capture the idea of taking a moment to listen to one another - so that we might, as a community, deepen our understanding, empathy, and respect for all people in all walks of life. 

We would like to thank: Mike Wiseman for helping us with all things audio/visual and editing; Willowbrook Christian Church and John Walker for generously allowing us to use their space to film; Nate Wolf, who designed and crafted our Tiny “Wolf” Desk; and Mary Cloninger for designing “The Luffman Phone.”

Melanie's Song

This is a new project where I am releasing a track at the end of each month and then at the end of the year put it together as an album entitled The Brutalist each song title has something to do with architecture Field Notes was written on synth and I also played bass. I had a special guest on it Terraplaines own Mary Cloninger played the lead synth. It is an honor and super special when she is able to play on a track. I hope you enjoy Field Notes!

Wild Violets

I have been reflecting on present and remembering the past. Mario Savio and Martin Luther King came to mind and I decided to make a track with their words legendary defenders of civil rights free speech and for the right of all people to live in the united states in peace and dignity this is for everyone who feels afraid and know if we are united they cannot defeat us hate can never dwell in the light my great grand parents came to America to make a new life coming from Sweden and Finland because of some of the same geopolitical problems that exist today These speeches give me hope and I wish the same for all who hear it. All is not lost. Even when it is the darkest there is always a little light.

Resistance

This is the second chapter of Resistance and it is aimed at the idea that Christian nationalist have the corner on Jesus and Christianity This is a false notion in the new testament of the Christian Bible Paul talks about false teachers and Jesus himself said his kingdom is not of this earth God is too big for just one nation and people are not the arbiter's of what God does. I hope that this gives you hope and know you are not alone we can resist together

To understand the future is to understand the past and present. Many people in America believe in American exceptionalism which is a myth and whitewashes the struggles of many Americans through slavery, discrimination, and violence which permeates the experience of many including Native Americans This chapter offers the resistance of existences  and how you cannot deny ones person by the mere fact of their existence and if you exist you can resist I hope this gives you hope and peace that you are not alone
